VZLU Aerospace a.s. is a Prague-based aerospace engineering company fully owned by the Czech Republic via the Ministry of Finance. Before 2024, it was known as VZLÚ or Výzkumný a zkušební letecký ústav (Aeronautical research and test Institute).[1][2][3][4] It serves as the national centre for research, development, innovations, and testing for the Czech aerospace industry.[5][4][3] It was founded in 1922[6] and incorporated in 1991.[7] It took part in the development of many Czechoslovak and Czech aircraft types[8] such as L-410,[9] L-29,[10] and L-39.[11] Since 2005, it has been involved in spaceflight projects[8] such as ESA's Swarm[12][13] and Ariane 6[14] or the Czech SATurnin-1[15] and QUVIK.[16]
