Can we have a Parser Function and a Custom mask?

Hi, I was thinking of adding this code and creating an importance scale so we can have a bot count all of our articles? Other than Namespaces, everything would either be a Stub or Bottom importance.

You'll all be happy to know that NONE of the above worked Fixed. However, there is now a Custom mask that makes all articles stub class, (namespaces are still namespaces) Done. There is also a custom hook that results in "Bottom" for ALL pages.

Links to assessment categories

Some DOF assessment categories have incoming links to "X-class Department of Fun articles" even though the relevant categories are all called "pages" since Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2024_December_7#Category:Category-Class_articles. I think these links are from this template.

You probably know this already, but if you need the custom class masks, they are in Category:Custom class masks of WikiProject banners. That template is of limited use here, I think. Consider what happens if someone tags an article (not a redirect) with {{WikiProject U.S. Roads|class=redirect}}. That means the template is going to categorise the article as Redirect-Class U.S. road transport articles, but that category does not exist, so what we really want is Category:Redirect-Class U.S. road transport pages, even though we know it's an article and not a page. (Even better would be for the U.S. Roads WikiProject to update their template so that redirects are detected automatically, but they have opted out of the standard assessment scale so it's their responsibility to maintain their own templates.) — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 19:50, 16 June 2026 (UTC)

Thanks! I'd lost track of this page, so please see my latest at WP:CFDWLM. I don't remember what was in those cats before. If it would be useful to check them, I think Liz has mentioned a tool to trace former members of a category.

As for this Dept of Fun, I've changed the links above to use Special:WhatLinksHere, and there are still some to resolve. Sorry, I had mot realised that the links template I used before restricts the results to articles.

I don't follow all that you're saying about US Roads. Talk:"Big Ben" Bowen Highway is auto-detecting that it's a redirect. IMHO if class=redirect was used on a non-redirect, a red link "articles" would be more useful than the extant "pages" category because the "wanted category" would signal that the assessment was inconsistent: it would need fixing, not categorising. – Fayenatic London 15:14, 27 June 2026 (UTC)
