Mapframe maps?

[edit]

{{Infobox building}} and {{Infobox shopping mall}} have both recently been updated to automatically show dynamic mapframe maps by default. I am proposing to similarly show such maps by default for this template, with the same optional parameters to adjust the size, frame center point, initial zoom level, and marker icon; and to similarly allow the mapframe map to be turned off using |mapframe=no. See Template:Infobox building#Mapframe maps and Template talk:Infobox building#Change to the map parameter so Kartographer works for further information. (FYI: I'm making similar proposal for other buildings infobox templates) - Evad37 [talk] 15:36, 31 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Evad37 so many years later, I happened to stumble upon this :) and used the implementation I found in {{Infobox ancient site}}. It's off by default, but I hope it's a useful improvement nonetheless. --Joy (talk) 14:04, 1 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

supporting conversions from religious building

[edit]

I tried to convert a monastery article, and the most obvious thing was the need to format designations as e.g.

|heritage_designation={{infobox designation list | embed = yes | ... }}

But even after that, I still got a bunch of preview warnings about other unknown parameters:

  • "patron"
  • "municipality"
  • "geo"
  • "state"
  • "consecration_year"
  • "religious_affiliation"
  • "module"
  • "materials"
  • "rite"

At least some of these seem like obvious omissions. --Joy (talk) 22:24, 6 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

I started adding some of these to the sandbox, but it made me think this is fairly pointless, why not just do it the other way around, as the other one has far more features already? --Joy (talk) 17:15, 10 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

grid -numbers missing

[edit]

A number of sources for the Israel/Palestine area, identify places, not by co-ord, but by grid-numbers, (typically Palestine grid). I added that to the Monastery of Saint Saviour link, but it was reverted, ads it was not visible in the template. Note that the Pringle-ref in the article identifies the place by the grid-numbers, only. Is the a way we can make grid-numbers visible? Huldra (talk) 21:42, 30 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Pushpin map cleanup

[edit]

As part of a larger refactor of Module:Location map, I will be refactoring the way that this Infobox calls the location map code. The only noticeable change for most will be that the parameter names related to the pushpin maps will now all start with |pushpin_...=. This is part of a larger effort to make things consistent across Infoboxes. When this is done, ALL infoboxes using pushpin maps will use the same parameters. For more information about this, please see this post. As part of this cleanup, I am also going to resolving any conflicting parameters that I can find and cleaning up parameter names that fail to conform to MOS:INFOBOXNAME. Note that this follows a long list of similar clean ups that I have done on countless other Infoboxes. The parameters I plan to replace are the following:

Deprecate Replace with
|imagesize= |image_size=
|map_type= |pushpin_map=
|coord= |coordinates=
|map_relief= |pushpin_relief=
|map_caption= |pushpin_caption=
|map_size= |pushpin_map_size=
|full= |full_name=
|dedicated date= |dedicated_date=
|consecrated date= |consecrated_date=
|completion_date= |completed_date=

Please chime in below with any questions, comments or concerns about this cleanup. Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 19:29, 2 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
