Question

Is it reasonable to say "Some publishers, such as Ballantine Books, would sometimes use 12-digit SBNs where the last three digits indicated the price of the book;" or should we say "would append the book price to the SBN, creating a 12 digit number". Minor edit request

I was going to follow your suggestion but got confused and decided not to take care if it yet. If a publisher has been assigned a 4-digit number, leaving three digits for the title code, that publisher cannot publish more than 1,000 works without running out of unique codes?
