Sandbox

[edit]

@Trappist the monk: - This module uses a sandbox module. Christian75 (talk) 06:44, 17 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Christian75: the module was related to lua conversion of {{Infobox Chinese}}. Since he/she is an admin, the module can increase protection level, and move out from sandbox entirely by the decision of the admin and template editors. Matthew hk (talk) 07:24, 17 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
I think it's just a mistake. Modules should not use sandboxes, because everybody should be allowed to use the sandboxes - that's the point of having sandboxes. Christian75 (talk) 07:32, 17 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
Just an oversight on my part; fixed. I have raised to protection level of this module and ~/data to match {{Infobox Chinese}}.

Template merger

[edit]

@Trappist the monk: I'm currently implementing the mergers with {{Infobox East Asian name}} and found that alternative names aren't supported for Korean and Japanese. Could this be added? I will take a look at implementing it myself, but if you who already understand this template and have done it already for chinese could do it that would be very appreciated. Thanks! --Trialpears (talk) 21:20, 23 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Ping did not work. What do you mean by alternative names aren't supported for Korean and Japanese?
Trappist the monk (talk) 11:19, 24 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
I was reffering to fields such as hangul2 and kana2. --Trialpears (talk) 14:12, 24 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Tangut

[edit]

Could someone add support for Tangut characters and transcription, for use in {{Infobox Chinese}}. BabelStone (talk) 13:53, 19 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Appropriate title text
Header text for Tangut
Tanguttxg content
romanization labelromanized text
IPAipa text
Literal meaningliteral translation
you can use:
{{infobox Chinese
|title=Appropriate title text
|lang1=txg
|lang-content1=txg content
|lang-hdr1=Header text for Tangut
|lang-ipa1=ipa text
|lang-rom1=romanized text
|lang-std1=romanization label
|lang-lit1=literal translation
}}

Could any language lover advised me how to replace the plain-text column "Romanization" with [[Romanization of Wu Chinese|Wu romanization]] for the language wuu (Wu Chinese)? For example, see the transcription section of the Template:Infobox Chinese on the right. -- love.wh 09:27, 6 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

It seems some mystery language lover have fixed it, thanks! -- love.wh 02:40, 8 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Unnecessary font specification

[edit]

Why is the following line, 919 necessary?

<span style="font-family: Arial Unicode MS, sans-serif;">

It tags the Zhuang language text in this font. Test the article, Nanning. I see that, Namzningz is written in basic Latin alphabet, therefore, it is very unnecessary, and if it should still be, then a class must be included to allow us to change (nullify) the choice of the font.

Example edit
<span class="args.zha" style="font-family: Arial Unicode MS, sans-serif;">

Thanks. --Mahmudmasri (talk) 15:04, 7 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Template-protected edit request on 28 May 2025

[edit]

Please modify line 35 t change from "vale to the correct parameter for use in child infobox ShoneBrooks (talk) 15:32, 28 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

Not done. line 35 is correct as written.
Trappist the monk (talk) 15:46, 28 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
I may be wrong (or maybe the line count was off), but the text in question appears to be part of the code comments wherein "parameter" is misspelled as "paramter":
--[[--------------------------< T R A N S L _ M A P >----------------------------------------------------------
Table to map |showflags= value to an index into label_map for child infobox |labeln= value and to map |showflags=
vale to the correct parameter for use in child infobox |datan= paramter
Please reconsider the "correct as written" assessment. I also suspect "vale" should be "value." Thank you! ShoneBrooks (talk) 16:42, 28 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

Undesired empty row being inserted

[edit]

Please see this discussion about an empty row being created before "Chinese name" and before "Hanyu pinyin" in {{Infobox Chinese}}. This module appears to be the cause. – Jonesey95 (talk) 16:25, 11 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

Pinging @Trappist the monk, since they seem to be the primary contributor to this module. Toadspike [Talk] 08:21, 17 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

Module:Check for unknown parameters

Hainanese

[edit]

Can the Hainanese Transliteration Scheme romanisation be added for use in {{Infobox Chinese}}? Warpswitch (talk) 19:08, 6 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
