The Facelinidae is a family of aeolid nudibranchs. They are marine gastropod molluscs.[2][3]

Taxonomy

[edit]

According to the taxonomy of the Gastropoda by Bouchet & Rocroi, 2005, this family contains the following subfamilies:[3]

  • Facelininae Bergh, 1889[1] - synonyms: Caloriidae Odhner, 1968; Phidianidae Odhner, 1968; Pruvotfoliinae Tardy, 1970
  • Babakininae Roller, 1973[4] - synonym: Babainidae Roller, 1972 (inv.)[5]
  • Crateninae Bergh, 1889[6] - synonym: Rizzoliinae Odhner, 1939 (inv.)
  • Favorininae Bergh, 1889[7] - synonyms: Myrrhinidae Bergh, 1905; Phyllodesmiinae Thiele, 1931; Facalaninae Er. Marcus, 1958[8]
  • Herviellinae Burn, 1967[9]
  • Pteraeolidiinae Risbec, 1953[10]

In 2007, Gosliner and colleagues elevated the subfamily Babakininae to family Babakinidae.[11]

According to Korshunova and colleagues (2025), the following genera are recognised in the family Aeolidiidae:[12]
