Biographies
[edit]| The last sentence of the opening paragraph on Vladimir Lenin states:
Option A: "Lenin is viewed by his supporters as a champion of socialism and the working class". I think this is relatively generic and would be better explicated as: Option B: "Lenin is viewed by his supporters as a champion of socialism and anti-imperialism, his first government is credited with social reforms and political participation of the working class" I believe this would add more specificity to the distinctive nature of his government, highlighting the policies introduced under Lenin's government and the particular historical appeal towards his supporters. I know his historical legacy is sharply divisive due to some of the authoritative decisions relating to the ban on factions and later repression of other socialist groups during the Civil War period. However, to supporters such as Leninist groups, (the relevant sentence in question) he is commended specifically for anti-imperialism in terms of international support for anti-colonial groups in India, global south via the Comintern. From wider reading, some historical scholars and political supporters have also drawn attention to socially progressive policies with the 1917 Soviet decrees such as worker controls, worker's 8 hour working reduction, abortion, universal education, healthcare, illiteracy campaign, abolition of traditional empire ranks. These measures were seen as radical departures from the conventional policies that defined long established constitutional monarchies and colonial powers at this specific time interval. Rather, it seems relatively generic (in my opinion) to summarise that he was "a champion of socialism" without those specific key points. I think this minor tweaks still ensure brevity whilst capturing informative and historical context. I would like to gather wider views on whether to maintain Option A or B. | Should the July 23, 2026 Upper West Side stabbing of a Jewish congregant be included in this list if the entry uses carefully attributed language and reports that authorities charged the assault as a hate crime?
The incident received independent coverage describing the stabbing as apparently antisemitic, and prosecutors brought hate-crime charges. One editor contends that inclusion in this list would nevertheless state an unproven motive in Wikipedia’s voice and violate WP:BLP and WP:OR. Other editors contend that inclusion would reflect the reliable-source characterization rather than an editorial inference. | We have to reach a consensus whether we should add the infobox criminal to the existing infobox. The corruption case may be or may not be politically motivated and during the interim government, thousands of such cases were filed against the former ruler and their family members and there are controversies surrounding the cases. Moreover it is not a criminal cases like murder or rape which makes someone really a "criminal" to add a criminal infobox. They have been very consistent about stating all six countries filming occurred in, and have not once claimed anything else. Every single location they have actually shot in has been very well-documented, with BTS photos, paparazzi coverage, and even news articles about the local businesses noticing the increase in local commerce due to the large 1000+ crew present. If there is a citation more substantive than what amounts to a blind item, that's one thing. But the supposed sources behind Malta and Ireland have no actual evidence behind them more than a year after filming concluded. No follow ups, no substantive details, locations, scenes, dates, actors, crew, foot traffic, sets, photos. At this point, the onus of proof to retain this is on the page editors, since we have heard from the studio, the director, the producer, and numerous actors and crew members that the job took them to six countries. Literally not one source has claimed seven or eight countries. The only claim I've seen for Malta is from someone claiming it would be filmed there since Gozo claims to be identified as Ogygia according to the ancient sources and there is a site popularly called Calypso's Cave on the island. Well, the island may be cognate, but they did not shoot there. This is also obvious with a cursory Google Image search - the two places look nothing alike. Furthermore, all of Theron's scenes were shot in Western Sahara near Dakhla over a five day period in mid July. (The fact that Western Sahara is not claimed by the production as a separate country should not be viewed as surprising, given that Nolan has filmed in Morocco several times and is unlikely to want to make waves politically.) Something more concrete than an article that says little more than "yeah, we heard they're going here" is warranted at this point, given the amount of press coverage for the film and the fact that it's been released for the better part of a month. Sometimes news sources make mistakes and print rumors that are unsubstantiated. It happens. But refusing to correct the article to account for that misattribution, and insisting that as long as those sources exist we can't possibly edit that info, regardless of the bevy of more recent and more official statements from all the parties involved, strikes me as stubborn and hard-headed. Worse, it leaves false information out there to be repeated ad nauseam by other news sites who (right or wrong) use Wikipedia as a primary source, and who then print that info which can then be used a citation to continue to propagate that false information. ~2026-41229-67 (talk) 02:33, 8 August 2026 (UTC) |

| With the character move merging both Terry and Michael's respective versions to the page, I want to discuss how much of the article weight should factor for both; in my opinion, the weight should be more on the Michael Holt version; not because of WP:RECENT (Holt has existed for 29 years) but moreover, Michael's character is the primary version of Mister Terrific since his inception to the point despite debuting in 1942, Slone has around 300 appearances whereas Michael, debuting in 1997, has over 1,000+. Now I understand character's number of appearances doesn't guarantee anything but that's a noticably wide gap there. Furthermore, it would be a lot harder to argue WP:GNG for Terry wherein Michael has had some academic focus and coverage as a African-American superhero even before the Superman movie puts him in a spotlight even if the page has not (yet) highlighed such.
As it stands, the current inclination is to treat the characters somewhat equally. My edits prior would prioritize Michael Holt as the page's focus and Terry was moved to "other versions" as a sub-heading to address the character. | There has been a long-running edit war on this page over the website link in the infobox, of which previous attempts to curb it through page protection and admin noticeboard discussions has failed to resolve. The dispute is centred over the inclusion of the official website link, austenasia.org in the infobox. An editor has repeatedly attempted to remove this link through several edits. This is a follow-up to the existing discussion regarding DYKTIMEOUT. Given that one of the reasons for the backlog is due to a large number of open nominations that spend weeks or even months without resolution. Given that it is common for nominations to go for a while without a response from the nominator, leading to languishing reviews, this is being proposed to add a soft time limit for nominations (independent of DYKTIMEOUT). Do NOT post here if:
- the user in question has made no recent edits.
- you wish to have the block of a user reviewed. Instead, discuss the block with the blocking administrator (see also Wikipedia:Blocking policy § Unblocking).
Before adding a name here you MUST ensure that the user in question:
- has been warned about their username (with e.g. {{subst:uw-username}}) and has been allowed time to address the concern on their user talk page.
- has disagreed with the concern, refused to change their username and/or continued to edit without replying to the warning.
- is not already blocked.
If, after having followed all the steps above, you still believe the username violates Wikipedia's username policy, you may list it here with an explanation of which part of the username policy you think has been violated. After posting, please alert the user of the discussion (with e.g. {{subst:UsernameDiscussion}}). You may also invite others who have expressed concern about the username to comment on the discussion by use of this template.
