$\mathrm {BRD}$ isn't short for $\mathrm {BRDRD} {\overline {\mathrm {RD} }}\ldots$

It's short for $\mathrm {BRDDD} \ldots \mathrm {CE} .$

$\mathrm {C}$ stands for $\mathrm {C}$onsensus, and $\mathrm {E}$ stands for $\mathrm {E}$dit. The $\mathrm {E}$dit is then supported by the $\mathrm {C}$onsensus, so it sticks.

Otherwise, it doesn't.
