Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Pakistan
| Points of interest related to Pakistan on Wikipedia: Outline – History – Portal – Category – WikiProject – Alerts – Deletions – Cleanup – Stubs – Assessment – Style – To-do |
This is a collection of discussions on the deletion and merging of articles related to Pakistan. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.
- Adding a new AfD discussion
- Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
- Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
- You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Pakistan|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
- There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
- Removing a closed AfD discussion
- Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
- Other types of discussions
- You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Pakistan. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.
- Further information
- For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.
This list is also part of the larger list of deletion debates related to Asia.

I propose redirecting to Nauman Wazir Khattak because the coverage is focused on her husband or just namechecks her in routine news coverage like , , . BookishReader (talk) 23:21, 10 August 2026 (UTC)
- Comment: this did survive the first nomination in 2018 (a traditional deletion discussion that did not propose a redirect), but perhaps even in the otherwise-strict BLP topic area our standards were lower even that recently; it has been tagged as a potential NBIO failure since 2024. Rahman fails WP:NACTOR which states "The person has had significant roles in multiple notable films, notable television shows, stage performances, or other notable productions". The sources mainly cover her role in Spider-Man: Far From Home which was definitely not significant, she had about 2 small lines of dialogue. I also think, just for the context of anyone who may want to improve the article, it should be edited to include these sources even though they're interviews - Teen Vogue, Gulf News, and The New Arab. - Keep. The siege did occur. Your entire argument relies on a single ref, which you have cited incorrectly as well. The correct pg is 159. The excerpt itself is unsourced too with no cross-referencing. The author only delved into history post-retirement and has no formal training as a scholar. He studied law. He also holds fringe claims such as belief in the Aryan Invasion theory. The ref can be dismissed per HISTRS. Within the same article, there is a Routledge ref stating the Talpurs seized it, not that it was transferred to them by the Afghans.[2] Another supportive ref.[3] After Nasir Khan's death, his son couldn't retain Karachi or Western Makran, both were lost. Talpurs were continuously waiting for civil war so they could seize it.[4][5] It was specifically Mir Karam Ali Talpur who occupied Karachi in 1795 after overthrowing Khan of Kalat in the third attempt by Talpurs with an army of 20,000 men.[6] Another RS (Peeters Publishers) stating they conquered it in 1795.[7] There's also Laurent Gayer, who specifically calls it an "annexation" by the Talpurs.[8] All of these are reliable refs, with no mention of the Afghan transfer. The only valid concern in the article is the use of an unvetted text, authored by Naomul and published in 1915, based on his memoirs from the Talpur Era. But this can easily be replaced by the PHS ref which instead uses the 1982 academically vetted edition published by Oxford University Press, with an edit by Murchison & Hamida Khuhro, who has a PhD in South Asian History.[9] The editor of the PHS ref too is Dr. Muhammad Reza Kazimi, an academic with over 40 years of experience in history. That should suffice. In the future, kindly initiate a discussion at the talk page first. Sir Calculus (talk) 20:29, 9 August 2026 (UTC)
- it is page 105 there are only 141 pages in the pdf I have
- I agree with the keep now but unsourced text should be removed now and primary sources should be removed to give the new sources due weight also i would avoid citing him in future thanks. Dragon22121 (talk) 10:16, 10 August 2026 (UTC)
- Ah, I see. The PDF appears to be an unofficial reproduced text by Sani Panhwar. Whenever quoting or adding refs in articles/discussions ensure that the actual reliably published text is used instead as to best ensure verifiability by fellow editors as well as to avoid issues.
- As for the unsourced text and primary refs, yes, I agree, you may proceed with the removal. I'll reinstate if a reliable ref exists for the removed text. Sir Calculus (talk) 17:57, 10 August 2026 (UTC)

After suppressing the rebellion in Balkh, Timur Shah sent an army under the Barakzai chief, Payndah Khan, to Sindh in AH 1205/AD 1790. The Afghans went back after Mir Fatah Ali agreed to pay the tribute that the Kalhoras had paid to Ahmad Shah. Mir Fatah Ali applied to the Afghan King for the return of Karachi from the Khan of Kalat who had occupied it in lieu of payment promised by Abd al-Nabi Kalhora for providing a Brahui army to fight the Talpurs. The Afghan King directed the Khan of Kalat to return Karachi to the Talpurs which he did in AH 1207/AD 1792.

- (Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL)
The article does not establish that "Sargodha Airfield Complex" is, or has ever been, a notable subject in its own right.
Most of the content duplicates or summarizes information that belongs in articles on PAF Base Mushaf and the Pakistan Air Force, or other individual military installations. No independent sources are presented that discuss the "Sargodha Airfield Complex" as a distinct military installation, organization, or geographic entity.
In the absence of substantial independent coverage, the article fails WP:V and WP:N, and risks constituting WP:OR by synthesizing multiple facilities into a standalone subject that is not itself recognized in reliable sources. Salman Al Basri (talk) 08:09, 4 August 2026 (UTC)

- 1: the article summarises the history of PAF Base Mushaf because it falls under the prose of the article
- 2: multiple books name a “Sargodha airfield complex,” “airfield complex at Sargodha,” and even name the four airfields that operated under that complex (Beyond Fear: True Stories on Life in the Indian Armed Forces, Air Warriors True Stories of Valour and Courage from the Indian Air Force, etc)
- 3: It is often that a cluster of airfields is referred to as an airfield complex, for example Port Moresby Airfield Complex which was recognised as one on Wikipedia since 2013
- 4: The complex as recognised, former military infrastructure played a notable role during 1965 Indian air raid, and has an opportunity for further expansion Bollardant (talk) 11:05, 4 August 2026 (UTC)

- I have located many sources and will be featured in the article soon: Flight of the Falcon: Demolishing Myths of Indo-Pak Wars 1965–1971, by Air Commodore (Retd.) Sajad S. Haider. Explains role as an airfield complex and relation to the air wars.
- Also, the article has been heavily improved since AfD submission - replacing reliant sources like forums and GlobalSecurity
- Next, will be looking to redo the whole air war segment. Bollardant (talk) 13:52, 5 August 2026 (UTC)

- Keep — The article has been substantially improved since its deletion nomination (originally nominated by me). It now provides a structured history of the Sargodha Airfield Complex, including its establishment during the Second World War, its role during the 1965 Indo-Pakistani War, and separate coverage of Sargodha Main, Bhagtanwala, Chota Sargodha, and Wagowal. It also includes references to published sources and historical works. The article should therefore be retained while further sourcing and improvements can continue. The article clearly meets WP:GNG and WP:NFILM through verifiable contemporary print reviews and secondary national media coverage. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kcoripop (talk • contribs) 18:39, 1 August 2026 (UTC) | |

- Hi there, the words were my own using formatting though. Have removed - apologies, will fix and amend. Kcoripop (talk) 20:49, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
- Keep. The nominator's claim that there is "no genuine media coverage or film reviews by critics" is factually disproven by independent secondary press and contemporary reviews. Per WP:NFILM, WP:OFFLINE, and WP:GNG, the documentary has extensive coverage that can be referenced.
However, in terms of broadsheet and modern secondary coverage, the film is analysed in detail in The Express Tribune as retrospective reviews/coverage ("Kites in the sky, stories on screen: Basant in Punjabi cinema and music", Feb 9, 2026) as a foundational cinematic archive of Lahore's Basant culture and kite artisans. Further secondary commentary on its cultural preservation is featured in Pakeez ("Preserving Lahore's Kite Festival Through Art", Feb 10, 2026).
For the critical evaluation and contemporary print press, the Bo Kata film features a direct review in the Perthshire Advertiser (2009) by director Douglas Mackinnon (Doctor Who, Good Omens), who described it as "a beautifully made film with atmospheric music." This appears in a press cutting on the subject website from 2009 . The film was also nominated for the Satyajit Ray Film Foundation Award (2007) in association with the BFI and British Council (documented in the Bite the Mango program), featured in Sound on Sound Magazine for its score and sound design, and selected in official competition at DOCSDF / DOCSMX in Mexico City and the Monterrey International Film Festival.
The documentary clearly meets WP:NFILM and WP:GNG through verifiable contemporary print reviews, institutional recognition, and major secondary press coverage. Kcoripop (talk) 21:14, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
- The Express Tribune article is a "web desk" report. Pakeez is just a blog/website article without a byline. Your awards are non-notable. Sound on Sound is a promotional referral link. I don't know if article in Perthshire Advertiser exists - even if it exists it is a local "tabloid", and cannot be used to meet WP:GNG. BookishReader (talk) 21:34, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
- To clarify the policy points regarding the sources mentioned in the article:
- Per WP:RS and WP:GNG, The Express Tribune is a major national broadsheet with established editorial oversight, and staff/desk reporting in national press constitutes reliable secondary coverage.
- Regarding the Perthshire Advertiser, WP:GNG does not exclude regional print press, and under WP:OFFLINE, print coverage in established commercial newspapers (Reach plc) remains valid coverage whether accessed online or via print/microfiche archives.
- Combined with the BFI, British Council, and Satyajit Ray Film Foundation nomination records, the independent secondary coverage is sufficient to satisfy WP:NFILM and WP:GNG. Kcoripop (talk) 22:43, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
In my opinion the Express Tribune source could be okay: it's a brief review of the movie and puts it in a cultural context. The Perthshire "review" (linked in an upstream AfD case) is one line long and cannot be SIGCOV. Sound on Sound mentions the movie for two lines, and is being mischaracterized: it's "20 ways to create cash with your audio gear and skills". The movie is not featured, it's barely mentioned. There's a pattern here of gross misrepresentation of the sources. Delete as notability not shown--though this is the closest of the three related articles and finding two more good reviews or real discussions could change my vote. (Not nominations or short-listings, press releases, or pay-to-play awards.) M kuhner (talk) 02:50, 2 August 2026 (UTC)

I think if Hanging by a Wire is notable then we should create an article about it. Coverage is not focused on him and fails WP:GNG. It is also promotional in nature. BookishReader (talk) 05:50, 22 July 2026 (UTC)
- Keep - Even if it turns out that Hanging by a Wire is not his work, he appears to meet the notability guidelines, as he and his work have been covered by several reliable sources, including The Nation, Dawn, Gulf News, The Times of India, The Express Tribune, The News International, Images (by Dawn), ARY Digital, and others, all of which are reliable sources for Pakistani topics. - Tump Tehsil is an administrative subdivision (tehsil) located in the Tump District of the Makuran Division of Balochistan province of Pakistan.
- Tump Tehsil was formerly part of Kech District (also known as Turbat) of the Makuran Division of Balochistan province of Pakistan. Safeer Zaman (talk) 07:34, 20 July 2026 (UTC)
- The district was carved out of Kech District in March 2026. The district headquarters is at Tump city. Tump, previously was part of the Turbat/Kech District. Safeer Zaman (talk) 07:34, 20 July 2026 (UTC)
- Oppose: if I understand correctly, there are both a Tump District and a Tump Tehsil (part of the Tump District). Both are legal jurisdictions, which can have their own articles per WP:NGEO. -- P 1 9 9 ✉ 13:17, 25 July 2026 (UTC)

- Some thoughts: Both of thes# *** Numbered list iteme articles are minimaly informative stubs. As Wikipedia has grown and inproved there is less a need for micro-stubs and an inprovement of merging over redirecting. Both, it appears, are legal jurisdictions as administrative subdivisions. WP:NGEO offers a presumption, but not necessarily a guarantee. It seems, since Tump Tehsil is part of Tump District that a "merge" would create a better article, allowing expansion of the unfilled areas of both Tump Tehsil, Mand Tehsil, and even Zamoran Tehsil. These articles do suffer from a lack of attention and sourcing issues. At a point, and inprovements, splitting can be considered. Pinging Jerodlycett and P199 for opinions. -- Otr500 (talk) 15:55, 2 August 2026 (UTC)
- Note: A rationale for merging would be Wikipedia:MERGESHORT. -- Otr500 (talk) 16:36, 2 August 2026 (UTC)
- IMO, merging tehsils into the district is not a good idea, because they are different levels of jurisdiction. Since the Tump Tehsil article is so poor, it would be better to merge it into Tump, Balochistan. -- P 1 9 9 ✉ 14:41, 3 August 2026 (UTC)

For an event to exist on Wikipedia, it must pass WP:NEVENT, which this does not. Google Books shows three pages of results, but most of these are not from reliable sources. This is because the author is often not specializing is any relevant field and the publisher is not reputable. Google Scholar shows 2 results, one of which is a wiki (self-described) and the other is an inaccessible citation. Google News shows some coverage shortly after the event. Then, most of the other coverage is not WP:SIGCOV, except for which is not from a reputable media outlet. Relevant concerns from the NEVENT page are WP:LASTING, WP:GEOSCOPE (local to Kashmir), WP:CASESTUDY, WP:ROUTINE (terrorist attacks in Kashmir are very, common compared to other regions) and WP:DIVERSE (only news sources) HerrHeulsuse (talk) 11:13, 18 July 2026 (UTC)

- Keep The article already has several citations from both local and international outlets, including The Independent' (UK) and Voice of America (US), which challenges the WP:GEOSCOPE concern raised above. Also, a quick search found additional coverage not yet cited, including articles in The Guardian,"Massacre in Kashmir slum renews fear of war"] and BBC News, "Kashmir killings condemned"]. The frequency of Kashmir insurgency attacks doesn't make this one non-notable. And WP:ROUTINE typically refers to scheduled, everyday coverage like weddings or baseball games, not a massacre. SupermarketCake (talk) 03:19, 19 July 2026 (UTC)
- WP:NEVENT says
- "Many events receive coverage in the news and yet are not of historic or lasting importance. News organizations have criteria for content, i.e.
- news values
- , that differ from the criteria used by Wikipedia and encyclopedias. A violent crime, accidental death, or other media event may be interesting enough to reporters and news editors to justify coverage, but this will not always translate into sufficient notability for a Wikipedia article."

- Re: Significance, this attack appears on a U.S. Department of State list titled Chronology of Significant Terrorist Incidents, 2002. SupermarketCake (talk) 21:07, 4 August 2026 (UTC)
- I'm inclined to think this is just a news story with no sustained secondary coverage. I tried to find a suitable merge target, but this is just isn't significant to any broader subject. Does the Qasim Nagar neighborhood have significant coverage besides a one-off event? If not, I'll support deleting or redirecting to List of terrorist incidents in Jammu and Kashmir. Thebiguglyalien (talk) 05:15, 19 July 2026 (UTC)
- It probably does, in Kashmiri or another South Asian language, but we would need editors to work on it. I think that if we merge and redirect to your suggested page, then the history will be available to merge into a Qasim Nagar page if it is later created. HerrHeulsuse (talk) 10:29, 19 July 2026 (UTC)
- Regardless of what ends up happening to the event article, I've created an article for the location since I was able to find some coverage in Hindi and Urdu. It's barebones, especially because I was restrained in what information I grabbed from the sources, since I was reading them through machine translation. - Re: Significance, this attack appears on a U.S. Department of State list, aptly titled Chronology of Significant Terrorist Incidents, 2002.
- Adding this: In reference to @Thebiguglyalien's comment on sustained secondary coverage, I'll agree that coverage is limited to 'lists of past attacks', (Times of India), passing mentions or remembrance articles from local outlets. However, the initial coverage was substantial and international (The Independent, VOA, Guardian, BBC, plus Tribune reporting and the above State Dept listing), which I'd argue meets WP:GNG on its own. SupermarketCake (talk) 21:47, 4 August 2026 (UTC)
- WP:NEVENT:
- "a burst or spike of news reports does not automatically make an incident notable"
- "A violent crime, accidental death, or other media event may be interesting enough to reporters and news editors to justify coverage, but this will not always translate into sufficient notability for a Wikipedia article."
- Being included in a U.S. Department list is not worth anything HerrHeulsuse (talk) 10:35, 5 August 2026 (UTC)
- The key word in the list title is "significant". There seems to be a lot of effort to delete this article, but WP:DINC. SupermarketCake (talk) 18:04, 8 August 2026 (UTC)
- Firstly, it seems like you have voted twice as you bolded your vote twice. You should change one to "Comment".
- Secondly, citing DINC makes it seem like this article can exist at all. But on what basis? A couple of contemporary news reports? That isn't for an encyclopedia page per the guidelines that I cite and that you ignore. But even ignoring them, what purpose does the page serve if no scholars analyse it? It is practically just trivia. HerrHeulsuse (talk) 19:37, 8 August 2026 (UTC)
