Case sensitive or subst?
[edit]I see that this template has the BRFA result substituted. If you look at the history, you see I experimented with it, and made it case sensitive. However, the subst: makes the non-case sensitivity fail. So in order to get non-case sensitivity, the template can't be substituted. The reason for non case sensitivity is because occasionally, a BAg member make a mistake, and forgets to capitalize the result. This makes the result not show up. Should we have it subst: or transcluded and uppercase the first parameter? Soxred93 | talk bot 00:57, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
class=metadata
[edit]Does class=metadata actually do anything important? All it seems to do for me is cause styling on dark mode to be removed. Axolitl (talk | contribs) 04:19, 2 October 2026 (UTC)
- OTOH, I'm not terribly convinced that certain WMF devs making strange unilateral decisions is good reason to change long-standing template classes. Anomie⚔ 11:50, 2 October 2026 (UTC)

- Digging through some old discussions, I find mention that it was possibly originally intended to mark things to be hidden if a page is printed (see Special:Diff/41992329). On the other hand, apparently the certain WMF devs made other strange unilateral decisions (to style it
display: nonein mobile 🙄) back in 2012, so it has already been removed from templates like Template:Afd top. Given that, I suppose the damage is already done and it's pointless now. Anomie⚔ 22:37, 2 October 2026 (UTC)
