Purpose
[edit]This is a template to generate links to entries – an article, a journal, a category or a list of search results – in the PhilPapers, an online directory of philosophy articles.
Note: This template should generally only be used in the External links sections of articles; it should not be used in citations, references or bibliography. Consider using {{citation}}, {{cite web}} or related templates for those purposes.
Parameters and usage
[edit]This template takes (up to) three (unnamed) parameters – the first and the second are required, the third is optional:

Example 1
[edit]Browsing from PhilPapers' homepage through "African/Africana Philosophy" > "African Philosophy" > "African Philosophy: History and Traditions" > "Ancient Egyptian Philosophy" will land you at https://philpapers.org/browse/ancient-egyptian-philosophy, which is the PhilPapers category (|1=category) on "Ancient Egyptian Philosophy"; then copying the URL extension string into the second unnamed parameter (|2=ancient-egyptian-philosophy):

will produce "custom text at PhilPapers", where "custom text" is an external link to PhilPapers' category on Ancient Egyptian Philosophy.
Example 2
[edit]The article "Aristotle on Geometrical Potentialities", at https://philarchive.org/rec/IWAAOG, is a record (|1=rec) in the PhilPapers database; and its id is |2=IWAAOG. Thus:
- {{PhilPapers|rec|IWAAOG|Aristortoise is an Aristurtle}}
will produce the external link: "Aristortoise is an Aristurtle at PhilPapers"[c]

[edit]- ↑ Entries can be found by browsing topics from the PhilPapers' homepage or using their search box.
- ↑ If this value is empty, the link text defaults to the title of the Wikipedia page where this template is transcluded
- ↑ Remember: the third unnamed parameter overrides the default text, which is not the title of the article at PhilPapers.
