Template:More significant coverage
Usage
[edit]{{More significant coverage|date=October 2026}}{{Mscn|date=October 2026}}{{More significant coverage|section|date=October 2026}}
This template is used on pages that have too many non-significant sources. This template should be used in articles where the subject's notability is received from just mentions rather than full and in-depth citations with significant coverage. This template can be used where the vast majority of the cited sources are just mentions of the subject and do not represent a major addition about the content of the subject. Using this template on a page will add it to the monthly subcategories of Category:Articles needing additional sources with significant coverage if the date is provided.
Do not use this template on articles that contain sources with no significant coverage, instead use {{No significant coverage|date=October 2026}}
Parameters
[edit]There are seven optional parameters.
|date=Specifies the month and year that this template was put in. It helps in identifying when the specified article needed more sources with significant coverage. Use{{More significant coverage|date=October 2026}}to specify the date the template was put in. Otherwise, using{{More significant coverage|{{subst:DATE}}}}will automatically put the current date.
|small=Specifies the template box to be small and placed on the left. For example,{{More significant coverage|small=left}}produces the below result.
|1=Replaces the word "article" with the value entered in this parameter. Usable for specificness in the article it is entered in. It can also be written as|(value to be replaced)|without using the "1=". For example,{{More significant coverage|1=biography}}or{{More significant coverage|biography}}produces the below result.
|talk=Specifies the name of the section in the talk page of the article where relevant discussion about the sourcing problems raised in the template may be found.
|unsure=Used to indicate articles that may need more significant coverage, if all or most of the citations are not checked because they are too many/too long. Adding any value (including letters, numbers, and special characters) into this parameter will make it work, not just "yes." Setting to "no" does not work, and serves the same purpose as "yes" (or any value).
|notability=This parameter should be used in articles where more significant coverage is needed, but which are notable and the last sentence of failing notability is not needed.
|reason=Used to add a reason for adding the template; value entered displays in bold.
