Why is his name in Ukrainian?

He was a Russian from Moscow and moved to Kiev when it was still the Soviet Union. I know Ukrainian nationalists work on Wikipedia to Ukrainise everyone's name, but still, it's dumb.

Wasn't his name Yevgeniy?

I don't understand why is his name Ukrainized! His actual name was Yevgeniy, as stated in the same article, so why the page is named after a certain "Yevhen"?
