Not done: The existing figure is sourced to an official government document, you would need to provide reliable sources that say otherwise to change it. DrOrinScrivello (talk) 20:16, 15 June 2026 (UTC)

[edit]Concerning this accurate flag placed by a fellow editor doing great work:
This page may be too long to read and navigate comfortably. |
There are a number of sections in this article the duplicate content in other articles. Replacing repetitions with ways to direct readers' attention to dedicated articles where possible can help. I am balancing some with see alsos and excerpts, depending on if the details help the article quality. Feedback welcome. LumenArchivorum (talk) 23:04, 5 August 2026 (UTC)
- Yeah, it should not duplicate the sections entirely. It should be written in WP:Summary style HerrHeulsuse (talk) 14:23, 6 August 2026 (UTC)
- So I do not agree with your choice to have excerpts, the section should be smaller than the lead of the other article, and it should have citations HerrHeulsuse (talk) 14:58, 6 August 2026 (UTC)
- Hi
- Concerning sources, it has sources, it is the lead from an article, with a long list of references. Lead does not have to have sources referred to in the text, however, a lead must accurately reflect the body of the article where each claim has to be supported proportionally.
- Concerning length, I don't see a problem in including a 3 paragraph section on health in Yemen, it is a very important aspect of Yemen considering the humanitarian crisis. About the military, it is a rather short excerpt. LumenArchivorum (talk) 16:04, 6 August 2026 (UTC)
- We have some discretion, a simple see also will also suffice. I have recently discovered the excerpt option and I love it, because it's super efficient and it looks good. Saves us all from double work. If you prefer us to have a summary I won't stand in your way. Personally I see much value in organising our data with excerpts, it benefits the reader and us editors. LumenArchivorum (talk) 16:01, 6 August 2026 (UTC)
- I should add, it's still editable for all of us, just in the main article. The beautiful thing about that is that it forces a larger amount of editor to work on the same piece of text for the same subject. Improving our quality and focus. LumenArchivorum (talk) 16:43, 6 August 2026 (UTC)

Separate section on World Heritage Sites?
[edit]I think any information about such things should be integrated into the architecture section HerrHeulsuse (talk) 14:22, 6 August 2026 (UTC)
- I agree. And, I think the entire section culture which both are included in could be replaced with an excerpt from the Culture in Yemen article, that way you integrate it naturally because it is all included in the main article. Keeping it short here without neglecting to give proper attention to the subject. Press insert, template, write excerpt culture of Yemen. LumenArchivorum (talk) 17:04, 6 August 2026 (UTC)
- This is not what is done with the WP:Featured article of Canada. In fact, that page uses 0 excerpts, because writing normally is more flexible. Disregarding whether we should use excerpts at all, we shouldn't just replace the entire culture section with a single excerpt, since that's not what is done with other featured articles of countries. HerrHeulsuse (talk) 17:11, 6 August 2026 (UTC)
- We can find GA with or without, in this article it seems it will be a combination. You can modify excerpts to be the lead or a subsection to keep in your editor toolbox. I'm around if I may be of assistance, I was mainly concerned with that the health section live up to MEDRS where we have little discretion, the health of Yemen article keep MEDRS standards and the previous text did not. LumenArchivorum (talk) 17:30, 6 August 2026 (UTC)
- Pls dont ....I will work on the sections this weekend ....per Wikipedia:Verifiability"When material that needs an inline citation appears in two or more articles, an inline citation is needed in each." ....WP:BURDEN "The cited source must clearly support the material as presented in the article. - Hi.
- Ah, so when a lead is used as an excerpt it needs to have inline citations, because usually a lead does not need footnotes assuming all the claims are supported in the body? I can add footnotes to the health of Yemen lead as I wrote it and have the notes left. I will wait with working on this Yemen article to see the advancements, I see there is a lot of work going on here now which is super. LumenArchivorum (talk) 07:31, 7 August 2026 (UTC)
- The amount of words that a good lead should be is around 500. This is obviously not appropriate for every section on this article. If you do think it is, then please initiate a WP:RFC because your attempts seem to be against local consensus on this page, and broader consensus across country articles, as evidenced by the section Moxy cited. HerrHeulsuse (talk) 10:03, 7 August 2026 (UTC)
- This has been such a teaching conversation for me, the technical aspects of excerpts which can be both negative and positive means I have to think a bit more about process and tech again. One of the things I love about editing is that I have to learn something new every time I do it. Feel free to ping me if I may be of service further here, love that you guys are engaged here. Discrepancy in Religion section
[edit]In the religion section, the text and the table present different values for the religious composition of the country. HerrHeulsuse (talk) 14:49, 6 August 2026 (UTC)
Images
[edit]I am removing some images because there is MOS:SANDWICHing in the article. Oversaturation of images distracts from the text anyway. HerrHeulsuse (talk) 17:11, 6 August 2026 (UTC)
- There are no more instances of sandwiching throughout the article HerrHeulsuse (talk) 15:09, 7 August 2026 (UTC)

[edit]I think we need to locate online links to these resources so that we may access them. This is to help with WP:Verifiability and get this to WP:GA HerrHeulsuse (talk) 11:47, 7 August 2026 (UTC)
Peer review
[edit]
I've listed this article for peer review because I want to bring it to WP:GAN, and then WP:FAC. I will be working on addressing uncited content and updating outdated information. Beyond that, should there be any issues with the candidacy?
Thanks, HerrHeulsuse (talk) 14:57, 7 August 2026 (UTC)
- The immediately obvious issue is how highly unbalanced the article is. The article as a whole is already over 11,000 words. However, over 6,300 words are in the History section, meaning one of the seven main sections takes up over half the article. This unbalance is reflected in the lead, where History overwhelms everything else. Relatedly, there may be MOS:OVERSECTION. History has 17 subsections, which is extreme, however other areas are also very divided. There isn't even a main Culture section, only subsections. There is probably a need to look at each section, and assess from reliable sources what areas of that topic would be due weight being pulled out as independent subsections.
