1930 or 1920 ?

The intro says it started in 1930 ... but the table starts at 1920 ... which one is right ?--OC 08:31, 28 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Neither, really! There was a competition at Cowal from the late 19th century or early 20th, originally for military bands, which became retitled World Champions at some point (possibly the 1920 date, not sure). On the formation of the RSPBA, this title continued to be awarded, until a dustup in the fifties saw it taken away from Cowal. This is also the reason Cowal continues to be an RSPBA major championship to this day. Calum (talk) 14:02, 29 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

I'm not sure the results given are 100% accurate. I am fairly sure Starthclyde were 2nd in '87 and the Vale were 2nd in 1990. Calum (talk) 14:02, 29 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
