Nope, not the same at all. That's about the differences between red and white wines, and from where red wines get their color; it's an article about wine, the drink, discussing one of its main properties. This is about a widely used color named for the drink because of its resemblance. Entirely different. oknazevad (talk) 21:59, 4 July 2018 (UTC)

• Weak support. I was on the fence but I do find some support for wine red on Ngram and in a couple of dictionaries. I'm not convinced it's a terribly common name but probably common enough to be recognizable and natural and it avoids parenthetical disambiguation.--MYCETEAE 🍄‍🟫—talk 19:13, 3 June 2025 (UTC)

  It should be noted that wine red is very common in other languages: German: Weinrot, Swedish: vinröd, Afrikaans: wynrooi, Finnish: viininpunainen etc. Blockhaj (talk) 22:47, 3 June 2025 (UTC)

  Interestingly, several dictionaries suggest hyphenated wine-red as an adjective and/or claret as a translation for German weinrot and do not seem to recognize it as a noun. Ultimately this doesn't tell us what the title of this article should be on English Wikipedia, although I think it does suggest wine red is not all the common in English, which was my sense coming into this. --MYCETEAE 🍄‍🟫—talk 23:11, 3 June 2025 (UTC)
