Requested move 9 August 2026

[edit]

Willow Smith ? – The subject has been professionally known mononymously as Willow for many years, and her current musical releases and press coverage consistently use that name. The article itself identifies her as known mononymously as WILLOW. I believe Willow (musician) better reflects her established professional/common name, while the parenthetical distinguishes her from other uses of "Willow". Proposed move

I believe the article should be moved from Willow Smith to Willow (musician) because Willow is the subject's established professional name. She has used the mononym throughout her musical career, and contemporary coverage and her musical releases consistently identify her as Willow/WILLOW.

The question of whether Wikipedia should reproduce her preferred all-caps styling as WILLOW is, in my view, separate from the more fundamental question of whether the article should use her professional name rather than her surname. I am therefore proposing Willow (musician) rather than WILLOW (musician) for the purposes of this discussion. Artist&Architect (talk) 19:19, 9 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Oppose per NATDAB. The surname provides sufficient disambiguation. She's also an actress, which adds leverage against pigeonholing her as a musician. Binksternet (talk) 23:35, 9 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Occupation as engineer? Producer? Arranger?

[edit]

I have twice reverted the occupations of engineer, producer and arranger. Artist&Architect added these but they are not why Willow is famous. The listed occupations in the infobox should convey what Willow is famous for. She has co-produced an album of her own, but this is not an occupation. The occupation of producer is a person who goes around to other artists and produces their music. Arranger and engineer I have no idea why they were included. Thanks for clarifying. I understand your position that the infobox occupations should primarily reflect the roles for which the subject is best known. My intention in adding “producer, engineer, and arranger” was not to add commentary, but to reflect her documented roles in the creation of her music. In fact, she has more credits as an engineer and arranger than she does as an (on screen) actress, and her only two Grammy Award nominations are for those roles. That said, I’m happy to defer to your judgement on whether these occupations meet the appropriate threshold for inclusion in the infobox. I apologize for any inconvenience. Yes, Binksternet is correct. It's merely an opening sentence, it's not supposed to define everything role she's had in her life. Major points only here. Sergecross73 msg me 10:53, 10 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
