From 1864-1869, he was colonel of the 11th Infantry Regiment (United States). Their duties were, for the most part, not in Washington, D.C. The article needs corrected to better reflect this. --Daysleeper47 (talk) 18:05, 6 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Not his landlady, but socialite friend: Elizabeth Wharton that was tried for his poisoning. He had visited her home for a dinner and to press her for payment on a $2,000 note. She poisoned him and attempted to poison her accountant who had been covering her fraudulent lifestyle. Ketchum took ill at the party after drinking a tainted beer. He died five days later after being given additional doses of tainted medicine 68.142.61.101 (talk) 22:04, 10 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
