His funeral rites were held later in the week after his daughters returned from overseas.

So saith the article — but this was written the day he died and the funeral had not happened yet. Some kind of time warp? Seriously, though, I don't think WP should get ahead of itself like this, and perhaps such things should use the future forms until they actually happen. It is a common practice to play a player for a couple of minutes towards the end, if he is sitting on the bench all along, especially when the scoreline is safe, and not likely to change... either way. He did set his foot on the live/green during a match and was awarded multiple times for being part of team. I would like to see a valid citation, to think otherwise.
