Add topicUFC Fight Night 290: Main & Co-main Event
[edit]The best main event for "UFC Fight Night 290" on October 17th, would be a heavyweight bout between Alex Pereira and Alexander Volkov! The date is in really good timing, and this just seems like the most entertaining and ethnical matchup to help benefit the heavyweight division right now. The co-main event could be another great help to the heavyweight division, which is "Sergei Pavlovich vs. Josh Hokit." The UFC heavyweight title rematch between Tom Aspinall and Ciryl Gane will likely take place very shortly before or after this scheduled fight night. Having "Pereira vs. Volkov" and "Pavlovich vs. Hokit" on the same fight card would create a terrific title elimination card. The ideal plan is to have the Pereira/Volkov winner fight for the first heavyweight championship bout in 2027, either against Aspinall or Gane, and have the Pavlovich/Hokit winner face the loser between Aspinall and Gane in early 2027, then if they win, the victor can compete for the second heavyweight title fight in 2027! This would highly benefit the weight class, and make things play out incredibly interesting for the near future of the 265 league!
Also, the UFC's October 17th event is being set to take place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. There actually hasn't been any big heavyweight matchups in Canada, before! This could be a fantastic first! Fans have been pondering the idea of Alex Pereira and Alexander Volkov squaring off for a few years now, and Sergei Pavlovich and Josh Hokit seems like a dream come true match, that wouldn't be a regret for anyone's interest! This event may be one of the most viewed fight nights of 2026. There is absolutely no better decision the UFC board could make for the heavyweights now! Both Pereira and Volkov have been reasonably wronged for a heavyweight title shot, and a five-round main event would very much help make things right. However, to bring great benefit to this title eliminator, it must be a five-round fight night main event. Three rounds wouldn't be fair or do enough justice. Pereira is one of the biggest names in the sport, so he is obviously worthy for it. But Volkov hasn't had a main event for five rounds, since he fought and defeated Rozenstruik on June 4th, 2022. He just keeps winning and improving, and he deserves another fight night headliner, once more!
All in all, "UFC Fight Night 290: Pereira vs. Volkov" would work out too well to let the opportunity pass up! Edmonton needs a unique and intriguing main card to keep the fans devoted. This is probably just the type of main and co-main event that is necessary. So, I very much hope that this will be taken into proper consideration. It's a possible UFC Fight Night of the year!...
