It needs to be understood that the presence of a CE mark on a product may mean a Type Approval has been granted by a Notified Body (i.e., a government approved testing and approval agency) OR it may mean that the manufacturer has "self declared" conformity to some European Directive. The detailed text of each Directive will define when a Notified Body is required, and when self-assessment is possible.216.99.101.53 (talk) 15:40, 25 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

A CoC is widely used in Aerospace industri which is not mentioned in this article — Preceding unsigned comment added by 158.112.84.234 (talk) 07:54, 7 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Should we link to Declaration of Conformity for those confusing the two terms? Various agencies (FCC for example) usually have a Declaration of Conformity and Mark of Conformity. CE Marking and FCC Declaration of Conformity --199.255.204.2 (talk) 16:28, 1 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

External links should be in their own section outside notes or references per WP:EL. Chongkian (talk) 02:10, 21 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on Type approval. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:

Update of the EC Certificate of Conformity section – COI edit request

[edit]

Disclosure: I work for EUROCOC, a company that procures vehicle certificates of conformity, so I have a conflict of interest and am not editing the article directly.

The section on the EC Certificate of Conformity relies on Directive 92/53/EEC, which has since been replaced, and cites a commercial website ("Henry, Alex. Getcoc") that does not appear to meet WP:RS. I would like to suggest the following update, based on official EU sources only:

In the European Union, a certificate of conformity (CoC) is a document issued by the vehicle manufacturer certifying that a vehicle conforms to a type approved under EU law. Its legal basis is Regulation (EU) 2018/858, which replaced Directive 2007/46/EC and has applied since 1 September 2020.[1] The content and model of the certificate are laid down in Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/683.[2] The certificate accompanies each new vehicle and is used for its registration in any member state. Vehicles built to non-EU specifications have no EC certificate of conformity.

I would also suggest removing the "Getcoc" reference. I have not added any link to my employer. Thank you for considering this request.
