Possible correction

[edit]

At the part "was arrested shortly Kirk was shot in the neck at a rally at UVU on September 10, 2025", shouldn't it be 'was arrested shortly after Kirk was shot'? Plus he was arrested on September 12 2025 (if you're referring to when Kirk was shot, it was said earlier.) C0stiiiiiiin (talk) 16:42, 18 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

Requested move 18 September 2025

[edit]
The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: moot. The article is no longer live. The Requested moves process is not intended to move redirects. Following the merger that implemented the decision made in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Tyler James Robinson, it would not be appropriate for this page to move away from its original name that is referenced from the target name's page history. If there is a desire to move the disambiguation page Tyler Robinson to Tyler Robinson (disambiguation) and create a new "Tyler Robinson" redirect, that would be a substantively new proposal that could only realistically be discussed in a separate RM started at the talk page of the disambiguation page. Tyler James RobinsonTyler Robinson – This is the main topic for the subject "Tyler Robinson". All the other names listed at the page Tyler Robinson redirect to other articles - IE they do not have their own page. 2A00:23C8:30B7:3501:A49E:DAB2:1A47:7374 (talk) 17:48, 18 September 2025 (UTC)  Relisting.  veko. Yes per WP:RMNAC. CNC (talk) 12:18, 23 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
Clear WP:SNOW, I've been tempted by an involved close as at this point it is procedural and surprised no page mover or admin has closed this yet. Any experienced editor can close and send to WP:RMTR though or ping me to move. CNC (talk) 08:27, 23 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
Support - per all Support votes, many sources just avoid the middle name. Beluga732 (talk | contribs) 14:48, 23 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
  • I have some pretty serious WP:BLP concerns in removing the middle name. The reason the middle name is almost always included in high profile criminal cases is to ensure that other people with the same name aren't confused for the accused. Esolo5002 (talk) 17:48, 23 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
Oppose the move proposal for the same reason. If Wikipedia doesn't have a 3-name policy for people who allegedly did massive crimes, it should. See e.g. this Slate piece. Anonymous-232 (talk) 06:56, 26 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
Support - Per everything else said, many reports do not mention his middle name and there are no other notable Tyler Robinson who have their own article Jaquavious watterson (talk) 18:37, 23 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
Tyler Robinson's full name should remain displayed as is. Doing so maintains the distinction between the person who assassinated CK, and the other Tyler Robinson pages that exist. This way there is no confusion and makes locating information about this person and event simplified and more user friendly. 2601:C2:180:34E0:D5DA:ED9E:3FF1:5AD0 (talk) 15:13, 24 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
Strongly discourage WP:SNOWBALL close. I'm not going to take a position either way on this RM, but given there is an active AfD ongoing, I would discourage moving the page at this time so as to not confuse new participants in that AfD. But I think this could be SNOWBALL closed after the AfD concludes since it looks like a consensus is forming against merging, as much as I hate to admit. guninvalid (talk) 18:26, 24 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
at this point it seems like there is more keeps than deletes and merges (69) shane (talk) 18:35, 24 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
An AfD of a moved page redirect is distinct from an AfD of a page. So it will unfortunately probably be closed as keep, but I do think that this RM should not be closed before the AfD. guninvalid (talk) 18:46, 24 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

What part of WP:RMRELIST or WP:RMCIDC advises re-listing when there is consensus? Relisting has removed it from the backlog, but doesn't discourage anyone from closing. CNC (talk) 20:10, 25 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
Oppose. I only am opposing this so there is something more to distinguish this specific Tyler Robinson from the other Tyler Robinson's. If we want to do something different other than Tyler James Robinson then I am all for it.
I think it would be particularly sad for the Tyler Robinson foundation which celebrates the life of a young boy with cancer, and helps kids with cancer would even mistakenly be associated with murder. Historyguy1138 (talk) 16:52, 25 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

I would be totally fine with that. Or accused assassin or shooter. I don't care take your pick. (: Historyguy1138 (talk) 17:38, 25 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
Unnecessary disambiguation of Tyler J. Robinson though. CNC (talk) 17:42, 25 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
How so friend? There are already several articles on a Tyler Robinson.
If it was Tyler J. Robinson, Tyler James Robinson, Tyler Robinson (suspected Killer/murderer/assassin/shooter [again take your pick I don't care]) that would be better. Anything but Tyler Robinson by itself so that their is a disambiguation between the other Tyler Robinsons. Historyguy1138 (talk) 18:50, 25 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
The arguments in this discussion are based on the policy common name and that of the guideline primary topic. I don't understand the argument for unnecessary disambiguation based on policy or guidelines, as it simply isn't recommended when a topic is primary, and linking to the disambiguation page is what hatnates are for to avoid any confusion or navigation issues. Politics massively unconfirmed

[edit]

I do not know why the politics section of this guy's article is even up yet. I'm pretty sure multiple sources have confirmed that he had no roommates, and was living alone.

His own parents confirmed he was living with a roommate who was also his partner. 2601:447:C17F:33C0:652D:444D:DF0D:DAD0 (talk) 03:12, 19 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
I doubt, as Republicans, that his parents were very aware or interconnected with Tyler's life, since deep internet culture is likely not something they're familiar with. I don't think their biases towards Charlie Kirk can be dismissed in evaluating whether or not what they said is true. Arzatium (talk) 10:07, 19 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
What? I don't even know how to respond to this. His parents aren't aware of his life "because" they are Republicans? --Onorem (talk) 18:56, 20 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
I don't know either, and especially why they only present evidence for him being left-wing. Much evidence of his antics would suggest otherwise (i. e. the case engraving with the song from the Groyper Wars playlist and the photo of him dressing up as a "mascot" of some sort associated with Groypers), which would be consistent with the fact that Groypers were very critical of Charlie Kirk for not being far-right enough. Whether he had a roommate, I'm not sure, but if she exists I doubt the notion that she's transgender, as few credible sources have been seen to fully claim it. Arzatium (talk) 10:04, 19 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
The charging document rebuts every point of your claim. His boyfriend/roommate was transgender. He had become more LGBT and trans-rights focused over the last year.

Yeah because if there's one thing groypers are known for it's being angry at Charlie Kirk for not being far-right enough right before calling him a fascist. Guraburunaku (talk) 00:12, 23 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

Is it necessary to have a separate article? Should this article be redirected to Assassination of Charlie Kirk? cagliost (talk) 18:33, 18 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

Considering the amount of time has passed since Charlie's death, and the amount of generally reliable sources, probably Weak Oppose as WP:BLPCRIME still applies to criminals who havent been charged. shane (talk) 18:35, 18 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia can have articles for whomever 47.161.198.115 (talk) 13:56, 19 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
No, they can't. Babysharkb☩ss2 (DEADMAU5) 14:30, 19 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
This individual is definitely notable. Deletion would be premature, let the article develop as more comes to light about their life and background, etc. 172.56.13.241 (talk) 08:04, 20 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
I say only delete it should he be found innocent. Deleting it prematurely would only hinder information gathering in real time. If he is found guilty, an article is only inevitable. AlecSurvives (talk) 21:49, 21 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
I agree with your statement. The article is inevitable unless he is found innocent. Shadowfax33 (talk) 13:38, 22 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
Why would it be inevitable? He's only notable for allegedly committing the Assassination of Charlie Kirk, and we already have an article about that. satkaratalk 16:02, 24 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
This person is very, very notable and a full article would be better than simply a section on the "assassination of charlie kirk" page. That way, it can be found in google searches and it's much cleaner.
Should Tyler be found innocent, then deleting the article is probably the best course, but if he's found guilty then this article is inevitably going to be created again. Everythingwii (talk) 12:04, 23 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
Keep the article for now, this man is absolutely a notable person as he is being accused of killing one of the most notorious figures in American right wing politics, if he is found innocent then delete Jaquavious watterson (talk) 18:21, 23 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
Oops, you suggested that this article may need to be redirected or merged instead of permanently deleted. Beluga732 (talk | contribs) 18:45, 23 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
