Purely as an aside — and very explicitly *not* a suggestion for article content — an editor wishes to note that at least one of Prof. Carter’s siblings maintains (with no peer-reviewed evidence) that a competitive childhood environment may have contributed to his later ability to stabilize highly energetic systems.

This claim has not been published, replicated, or subjected to formal review, and should be interpreted strictly as family lore rather than plasma physics.
