Querying description of Sauvignon Blanc-based wines

I wonder about the reference to "characteristic blackcurrent aromas" for the region's Sauvignon Blanc-based white wines? I tend to think more of kiwi fruit and similar analogies for SB. Again, perhaps my horizons are unduly narrow, but blackcurrent, to me at least, tends to invoke red wines rather than whites. But as an amateur, I'd certainly yield to the greater expertise of true wine authorities..... Nandt1 (talk) 17:10, 12 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hmm, the line is not sourced to any reference so I can't know for sure but my best guess that the line is meant to say "blackcurrent leaf aromas" since that leafy-greeness is a notable characteristic of Sauvignon blanc wines. But, again, since the line is not referenced (and therefore can't be verified) it would be best to just remove completely as it is confusing. Agne ^Cheese/^Wine 19:40, 12 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Varietal make-up

The Grape Varieties section is a mess. This needs to be updated, based on the cahier des charges.

I've removed the mention of 20% Chardonnay as this is not entirely correct. Chardonnay in still white wines could be 20% of plantings up until the 2016 vintage. I believe this is no longer the case, but is still allowed in sparkling, under certain conditions. Grebsky (talk) 08:45, 8 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
