Lead

[edit]
  • No issues here.

Early life and education

[edit]
  • 'Fox has stated that as a child, he took music lessons, including piano and trumpet; when he reached middle school, he decided to start playing piano again, performing gaming soundtracks by ear.' - I think this sentence should be split where the semi-colon is placed.

Career

[edit]
  • 'Fox's earliest experiences in game development involved using RPG Maker with his three brothers to make role-playing games and creating ROM hacks in high school.'
  • 'involved' > 'included'
  • 'to make role-playing games and creating ROM hacks in high school.' > 'to create RPGs and ROM hacks in high school.'
  • 'compose a variety of music' - 'a variety of' can be dropped here.
  • 'composing music including a version of "Megalovania"' - 'music including a' can be dropped here.
  • 'giving him experience with digital audio workstation software.' - DAWs can be pluralised, which means the word 'software' is unnecessary here.
  • 'He thought of the character designs and ideas for Undertale in college, where he drew them in his notebook. - I would reword this to: 'Fox conceptualised the character designs for Undertale during college, drawing them in his notebook.'
  • 'by then it had sold over 2 million copies.' - 'by then it > 'by which point'.
  • 'afforded Fox the opportunity to visit Super Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai.' - 'visit' > 'meet' - Specify the location after Sakurai's name is given.
  • 'he partnered with Japanese game developer ZUN for it Touhou Danmaku Kagura Phantasia Lost downloadable content' - 'for it' is an odd word choice here.

Influences

[edit]
  • 'Fox looked up to Yoko Shimomura's works in particular. Her song "Megalomania" for Live A Live was particularly inspiring for Fox, and he originally intended to use an EarthBound-themed cover of the song in a game, but he got tired of transcribing it and eventually made a new song called "Megalovania".' - This sentence needs to be split up.

Personal life

[edit]
  • No issues here.

This is well written. The above are some minor wording and sentence structure changes. 11WB (talk) 21:03, 28 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

FIxed everything mentioned here! 1timeuse75 (talk) 11:24, 29 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

This criterion is passed. 11WB (talk) 18:10, 29 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

This will take a bit longer. I will start on this tomorrow. 11WB (talk) 23:42, 28 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

As this is a BLP, I will be following WP:BLP policies for this.

Early life and education

  • Primary source ref 1: This really needs a WP:SECONDARY source.

Career

[edit]
  • Ref 5: This is fine. checkY
  • Ref 7: This source doesn't confirm the conclusion year given for Homestuck. The offline source might however. Please confirm this.

  • Ref 14: This source from Kotaku is not reliable due to the date it was published. This site has varying levels of reliability dependent on date. Please switch this another source.
  •  Done
  • Ref 16: This reference from Steamed is not reliable.
  •  Done
  • Ref 17: This looks to be correct. checkY
  • Ref 18: Unreliable, however this is to confirm a Forbes specific title. The 2 million copies claim is not substantiated here however, please find another source for this.
  •  Done
  • Ref 24: Unsure of the reliability of this source from AppTrigger. The information is confirmed however.
  •  Done
  • Ref 33: This is fine. checkY
  • Ref 36 and 37: Both fine. checkY

  • Ref 43: This confirms the voice role. checkY

Influences

[edit]
  • Ref 44: This confirms everything, however there is no mention of EarthBound.

Works

[edit]
  • Bandcamp sources: These really need to be switched out with reliable sources.
  • Replaced every Bandcamp ref. Although i can't find any secondary sources for I Miss You - EarthBound 2012 or prelude by bo en. checkY
  • Ref 52: This confirms he composed for this game. checkY
  • Ref 55: This confirms he composed for OFF. checkY
  • Ref 62: Confirms a guest track. checkY
  • Ref 73: This confirms the information, however KeenGamer is not reliable per WP:VG/S#Unreliable sources. This needs to be changed with a reliable source.
  •  Done

This article is well sourced for the most part, however the primary sources and a select few secondary sources need to be replaced with more reliable ones. 11WB (talk) 02:11, 29 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

Fixed every Refs, except The Bandcamp sources.
For the life of me, i can't find any secondary sources stating that Fox was born on October 11, 1991, what should i do? 1timeuse75 (talk) 12:15, 29 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
For the Bandcamp sources, i can't find anything for I Miss You - EarthBound 2012 or prelude by bo en. 1timeuse75 (talk) 12:32, 29 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
WP:BLPPRIMARY recommends against using primary sources. If the tweet really is the only available source for his birthdate, it may just be better to remove his birthdate from the article entirely, until a secondary source is published that verifies the date. 11WB (talk) 14:01, 29 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
@11WB Fixed! Can i edit the ref table you made, or do you have to verify my edits first? 1timeuse75 (talk) 14:43, 29 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
You're welcome to add  Done, that would be helpful. Make sure to add a line break and sign each though, so other editors are able to differentiate. 11WB (talk) 18:07, 29 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

I think everything has been addressed. The sources look to be improved. A check of ref 20 from Forbes verifies the 2 million copies claim. 11WB (talk) 04:03, 30 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

This criterion is passed. 11WB (talk) 04:03, 30 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

There are sections covering Fox's life, career and influences, which go over pretty much all areas I would expect to read about. Perhaps a bit more could be written about how he actually developed and conceptualised his most famous characters like Sans or most well known music like Megalovania. 11WB (talk) 23:38, 28 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

IMO, looking at the Sans and Megalovania articles. I think it relies too much on primary sources to be added here. 1timeuse75 (talk) 12:44, 29 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
Fair enough, I will this as optional in that case. 11WB (talk) 04:04, 30 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

This criterion is passed. 11WB (talk) 04:04, 30 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

This article does not express opinions about Fox, and all opinions given are correctly placed in quotations. 11WB (talk) 22:28, 28 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

This criterion is passed. 11WB (talk) 22:28, 28 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

The article is protected due to vandalism, however recent entries in the edit history show no evidence of vandalism or edit warring. The talk page doesn't show any recent disputes. 11WB (talk) 21:15, 28 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

I can personally attest to this claim. Not too long ago, Fox posted an image of himself covered in foam online (yes this is real, please bear with me) and called on his fans to add it to the article. It (from personal assumption) got locked for that reason due to constant edits to the IB (reverting becomes tiring after a while), and although he has now given express permission for the image's usage, it's still not a suitable one for his article. 🌙Eclipse (she/they/all neos • talk • edits) 18:16, 29 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

This criterion is passed. 11WB (talk) 21:15, 28 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

The current images are fine, however it would be great if a photo of Fox could be included in the infobox. 11WB (talk) 22:30, 28 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

Off-topic, but you just brought me flashbacks to when this was used as the lead image. Memories...
In fact, the essay describing that exact situation was written by the nominator of this GA. What a wild occasion. toby (t)(c)(rw)(omo) 05:24, 29 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
It's a crying shame that never made an RS. That would make an excellent DYK hook.--Launchballer 05:30, 29 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
Absolutely, lol. toby (t)(c)(rw)(omo) 05:32, 29 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
That image is not suitable at all. Based on that essay, the nominator can disregard my suggestion. 11WB (talk) 06:25, 29 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
@11WB In a perfect world, it would be the infobox image. Sadly, it goes against MOS:IMAGEREL. 1timeuse75 (talk) 11:29, 29 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

This criterion is passed. 11WB (talk) 06:25, 29 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
