Hello all

I intend to move this page to The Two-Penny Bar. This is the title of the most recent Penguin translation by David Watson (first translated in 2003, revised translation 2014). According to this source, the novel has not been published under the title Guinguette by the Seine since 1950.

The novel was published under the title The Two-Penny Bar by Penguin (UK) in 2014 and Picador (US) in 2025 as a part of a highly publicised series of new translations of Simenon's Maigret novels. This is the title under which the novel is currently in print in the UK and the USA. This is now the most well-known English title of the novel in Britain, Commonwealth countries, and the United States.

I can't remember now why I used the title I did; I had thought when I saw your question that it was the title of the copy I had read, but on checking it probably wasn't! So, no objection at all.
