"The" in the name and so in the title?

Overlinking?
[edit]I understand that MOS:OVERLINK actually cites NYC as an example of something that may be overlinked. That being said, I think this recent edit takes things a bit too far. I would understand not linking NYC in an article about a random thing not related to the city. However, this is one of the five boroughs of NYC (and as such is a first-level administrative subdivision of the city). I would therefore say that New York City, far from being an overlink, must be linked in this context, as the link is directly relevant to the topic of the article. – Epicgenius (talk) 23:55, 22 November 2025 (UTC)
