• Hi @Richard Nevell: I wasn't able to find anything backing up that Tell Ruqeish was affected during the Israeli invasion of the Gaza Strip in The Art Newspaper. Have I missed something? Tenpop421 (talk) 15:10, 5 March 2025 (UTC)

• Thanks, Richard! That checks out for me. This article, created on 3 March is new enough, long enough, well-sourced, and presentable. No copyvio issues. QPQ done. Variant name

Onemillionthtree, I removed the following footnote from the article: Thareani, Yifat (2016) as shown in map p.81 (including variant spelling: "Raphiah"): is indicated by Andreou et al. (May 2024): "between Rafah and Gaza"

The map on page 81 of Thareani 2016 includes two closely located dots, one for Tell er-Ruqiesh and one for Raphiah, but they are separate rather than referring to the same thing. Similarly, "Establishing a baseline for the study of maritime cultural heritage in the Gaza Strip" (which isn't cited in this article but is available online) lists on pages 15–16 some archaeological sites and Tell Ruqeish and Raphia are listed separately. That's obvs. that two separate dots refer to separate things. I wrote: "Thareani, Yifat (2016) as shown in map p.81 (including variant spelling: "Raphiah"): is indicated by Andreou et al. (May 2024): "between Rafah and Gaza" - what's the problem ? Could you restate your argument? On the subject of "Similarly" I look on page 16: "86 Tell Rafah, Tell Zu’roub, Raphia, Rafia" confirms the "variant spelling" statement which you removed. I didn't state Ruqeish (your typo (sic) "Tuqeish") is the same as Raphia. The edit you removed was verification of an alternative name of Tell Ruqeish is Tell er-Ruqeish not Tell Ruqeish and Rafia are the same place. (𒌋*𓆏)𓆭 10:43, 30 March 2025 (UTC)

I took including variant spelling: "Raphiah" to mean a variant of Ruqeish, which appears not to have been your intention. Since the intention was to indicate a variant of Raphiah I think that is superfluous for this article, as Raphiah is not the main subject. Richard Nevell (talk) 12:51, 30 March 2025 (UTC)
