Clarifying my (reverted) move rationale
[edit]I just want to use this space to say that the only reason I moved this article to Tao Poon is this video by Bangkok Pat.
Also, @paul_012, while I do love your contributions to English Wikipedia. I have a little bit of criticism of your move message:
Paul 012 moved page Talk:Tao Poon to Talk:Tao Pun over redirect: Geographical names should follow RTGS by default, unless there's one clearly predominant spelling in English usage. Road signs have it as Tao Pun; see e.g. https://maps. app.goo.gl/EZorrLkYXyKwwiBE6
As road signs aren't always the same as the name of places on Wikipedia (E.g. Giant Swing vs Sao Ching Cha and Victory Monument (Bangkok) vs Chai Samonraphum)

- I wasn't saying we should follow the road sign, only that it's evidence that there are different spellings in use, in which case Wikipedia's default preference is to follow the RTGS unless the other spelling is shown to be much more common. It's possible that Tao Poon might actually be that much more common, but a thorough source survey is needed first. Bangkok Pat may be a popular Youtuber, but his spelling matters little in terms of Wikipedia's reliable-source requirement. (Also, choosing between minor spelling differences isn't quite the same thing as between Thai names and English translations—that would be "Tao Pun/Poon" vs "Cement Kiln", which is obviously not used in this case.) --Paul_012 (talk) 18:17, 24 June 2025 (UTC)

Tao Pun → Tao Poon – The last time I tried to move this article I didn't actually do research to see whether Tao Poon is more popular than Tao Pun (Aside from just seeing this YouTube video by Bangkok Pat) But after I looked into usage more throughly I found that just about every Condo buildings is named Tao Poon, even the police station is named Tao Poon police station. Thus I'm convinced that Tao Pun is the odd one here. P.S. For other similarly named places, I'd rather keep them as Tao Pun for now (as well as Tao Pun (disambiguation)) 🐲Jothefiredragon🔥talk🧨contributions✨log🐉 07:23, 19 November 2025 (UTC)

- Support. Tao Poon is more commonly used than Tao Pun (I've never heard of Tao Pun in my life). I think that's the official name too but I'm not 100% sure. Electorus (talk) 16:30, 25 November 2025 (UTC)
