The best Streisanding is the Streisanding you give yourself, as the adage goes. The adage is even enshrined at Wikipedia, where it points to the creator of the term: Mike Masnick.
Jon Broadkin (10 February 2026). "Archive.today CAPTCHA page executes DDoS; Wikipedia considers banning site". Ars Technica. In one email, [Jani] Patokallio included a link to Wikipedia's page on the Streisand effect, a name for situations in which people seeking to suppress access to information instead draw more public attention to the information they want hidden. The Archive.today site maintainer apparently viewed this as a threat.

Could you please clarify what you mean by sourcing it to this topic? It looks like the NPR citation that was provided specifically mentions the Streisand Effect, and searching the web yields other sources that mention it as well. Alpacaaviator (talk) 04:14, 3 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

The article isn't intended to be a comprehensive list, which is why the article List of Streisand effect examples was created, as the list was getting unwieldy.
