Why does "stillingia oil" have that name?
[edit]Why does "stillingia oil" have that name? Sources say that it comes from the seeds of Sapium sebiferum or Sapium discolor (now called Triadica sebifera and Triadica cochinchinensis), not from this plant.
But this plant too has oiliferous seeds (see ref). Is its oil called "sapium oil" perchance, by the principle of Maximum Confusion?--Jorge Stolfi (talk) 02:50, 28 August 2020 (UTC)
- Answering my own question (perhaps): Stillingia oil got its name many decades ago, when the trees were called Stillingia sebifera and Stillingia discolor. --Jorge Stolfi (talk) 04:41, 28 August 2020 (UTC)
