Spring High School stabbing → 2013 Spring High School stabbing – Not notable enough to have a WP:NOYEAR title PlainWikiUser1 (talk) 18:54, 10 August 2026 (UTC)
- Support per WP:NCWWW, which states that most article titles for events should say when. This is not nearly a impactful enough or well-known event to pass WP:NOYEAR. This is not disambiguation, nor is it against WP:PRECISION or WP:CONCISE. There exists exceptions for the application of other naming criteria, such as those found in WP:NCE and it provides a bit of context to identify the incident for the low cost of four characters. Raskuly 🐰 19:29, 10 August 2026 (UTC)
- Support per nom and the naming guidelines, WP:NCE, which establishes that for an event with a descriptive title, the year is included by default for WP:RECOGNIZABILITY reasons, and only excluded for especially well known and historical events. This is not, and the year provides needed context. PARAKANYAA (talk) 19:41, 10 August 2026 (UTC)
- Oppose per WP:NOYEAR, the event can easily be described without the year and adding a year when it isn't needed for disambiguation nor an intrinsic part of the event like 2026 East Surrey Council election per WP:PRECISION and User:Born2cycle/Unnecessary disambiguation is not helpful and suggests there was another stabbing in a different year. It is not the purpose of a title to provide information beyond what the topic is called unless disambiguation is needed. Crouch, Swale (talk) 19:51, 10 August 2026 (UTC)
- There is no disambiguation requirement for a year, and 2026 East Surrey Council election is covered under WP:NCELECT and has no relevance. Raskuly 🐰 19:54, 10 August 2026 (UTC)
- Not even the location Spring High School is disambiguated and there is no evidence there there were other notable stabbings there. Crouch, Swale (talk) 19:55, 10 August 2026 (UTC)
- Okay? to the first part and not relevant to the second part as there is no requirement for there to be other notable stabbings because it is not disambiguation. Raskuly 🐰 20:01, 10 August 2026 (UTC)
- NOYEAR says "Some articles do not need a year when, in historic perspective, the event is easily described without it. As this is a judgement call, please discuss it with other editors if there is disagreement.". The event is easily described as Spring High School stabbing and would be recognizable to someone familiar with, although not necessarily an expert with it. The title would clearly not be WP:CONCISE as it would include an additional element that doesn't appear to be part of the common descriptive name. If there were multiple notable stabbing at this high school then the year would probably be needed and even if there were other schools with this name if this is the only one with a notable stabbing then there would be no reason for the year. Crouch, Swale (talk) 21:26, 10 August 2026 (UTC)
- This is a roundabout way of basically just doing disambiguation. Raskuly 🐰 21:32, 10 August 2026 (UTC)
