Did you know nomination
[edit]
- ... that settlers in Australia's colonial period dined on kangaroo tail soup, kangaroo steamer, and slippery Bob?
- Source: Cushing 2016 (p. 290): "More adept cooks recognised the particular properties of kangaroo and adopted its meat for dishes developed for other sinewy or lean cuts, such as kangaroo tail soup, said to be superior to the original oxtail version and jugged hare, a simple version of which had become known as kangaroo steamer by 1820."
- Connor 2025 (p. 57): "While claiming [Slippery Bob] as a Tasmanian old timers’ recipe, Abbott [writing in 1864] noted that it was a dish that no one else ever seemed to have heard of or tasted."

- Comment: Slippery Bob is cutting it fine with the character count - I hope it is accepted to retain the kangaroo theme and because I think readers will be quite interested in it, but parrot pie can be substituted if need be.
