Origin of the name "Silver week"
[edit]We currently have two claims on the origin of term in the article. A quick investigation suggests that the naming may be due to Golden week. But I am not claiming to know reliable sources on this matter. Can we root out one of the two and get a more sane article? --Dront (talk) 15:31, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
- I'm a non-J resident but my Japanese wife agrees with my observation that there is also a possible connection between the fact that 'silver' refers to the aged (e.g. the seats on trains reserved for the elderly are called 'silver seats'). One of the annual holidays in September is keirou no hi, 'respect for the elderly day'. Possibly just a coincidence, but imo this fact is also worth considering, in addition to the idea that Silver Week is a 'younger sibling' to Golden Week.
