Magnesium-germanium-tin-lead silicide?

[edit]

In this article one of the nonconductive silicides listed is quoted as (Mg,Ge,Sn,Pb)2Si. But Mg2Si is a semiconductor that is being considered for use in thermoelectrics, and modified versions of it have the heavier Group 14 elements substituting for silicon instead of magnesium so the compound would be Mg2(Si,Ge,Sn,Pb). You may want to check the WP article on magnesium silicide. Olthe3rd1 (talk) 00:46, 15 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

pronunciation

[edit]

In English, do you say silly-side or silly-kide? The latter would be suggested by the pronunciation of Silicon. OsamaBinLogin (talk) 19:18, 29 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

Sodium Silicide

[edit]

The article seems to spell it as Na2Si, whereas I would imagine it would be Na4Si, analogous with Silane SiH4. Are these typos? The Sodium silicide article doesn't help, it spells it as NaSi or Na4Si4. So I'm completely confused. 🤯 OsamaBinLogin (talk) 19:38, 29 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
