Linking KayCyy and likewise SCM to his

[edit]

Just meandering on both pages, which were missing links. Might be because this page is new. I don't do wikipedia editing usually but it's something I noticed. 71.59.89.22 (talk) 02:16, 9 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Restricting discography to SCM

[edit]

I disagree with the hidden comment, surely all of his published projects which have gotten significant coverage meet notability req? LOVECEL 🤍 19:43, 13 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

The sources on the page are almost entirely about the Sign Crushes Motorist project, with mere cursory mentions of his other work. They are simply not notable enough to warrant their own mention as this stage in his career. If you can find sources pertaining to other side projects, that’s a different conversation, but there is no significant coverage of projects like Take Care and Birth Day. Extensive discography suggestion

[edit]

I do not usually do talk page shenanigans, but I figure this is how you do it. Should there not be more extensive implementation of Liam's discography, given that this article professes that Sign Crushes Motorist and Liam himself are one in the same. It would be more pragmatic if there were inclusion of all of his solo works into this article and have them under different sections or topics. See Mark Kozelek for what I mean by this total inclusion. I also suggest that the name of this article be completely changed in general to McCay's name. Liam McCay is more than Sign Crushes Motorist, that distinction should be made. Either hydra this article into another article about simply Sign Crushes Motorist or make a different one for just McCay, although I suggest that this article remain for McCay. I was more-so modeling the page after Ricky Eat Acid, who has numerous projects but is generally known for his work as REA and within Teen Suicide. Truthfully, I am unaware of any Wikipedia standards for musicians who go by multiple projects, and what exactly is Liam and is not Liam can sometimes be confusing because there are not always sources. My approach was to err on the safe side and utilize the name he is referred to in primary sources: sign crushes motorist. He’s not notable on his own, but because of sign crushes motorist. By the way, thank you for your edit regarding capitalization! That was the right thing to do for sure, I just wasn’t sure of Wikipedia guidance on the topic. But it does line up with other articles like My Bloody Valentine so I’m all for it! Leggomygreggo8 (talk) 19:59, 18 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

I totally understand why you have the page formatted in the way that you do. Truthfully, it is hard to say distinctively that there is one set discography layout for people like Mark Kozelek, Conor Oberst, and other musicians that have several projects. Granted, this could come from my very own misunderstanding of formatting, as I am not a regular editor, nor am I a moderator. I just know that it would be nice, as someone that intakes the Sign Crushes Motorist media sphere content, to see projects like Dead Calm get recognition. I do, however, recommend changing the wording of the first paragraph to make the article sound like it is more about Sign Crushes Motorist instead of Liam himself; as I read this article for the first time, which I have no qualms of the content itself, I believed it to be of Liam rather than the project. I would also encourage the creation of a Dead Calm page, whilst we are on the subject. Celestine of the Stars (talk) 22:01, 13 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
I have edited the leading paragraph to reflect that the page is about SCM. Thank you for the suggestion, it makes complete sense.
My only hope now is that his other projects receive some recognition! Leggomygreggo8 (talk) 23:41, 30 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
