I am a paid editor engaged by the subject, disclosed on this talk page and at User:StudioSTEM. Following the reviewer's guidance, each proposed change is set out separately below with the exact location, the verbatim text to be removed, the verbatim text to be added, the reference, and the reason.

Requests 3 to 9 all sit within the section currently headed "Background". Request 2 proposes renaming that section to "Education and career"; the later requests refer to it by the new name for clarity, but they can be applied to the section under either name and do not depend on Request 2 being accepted.

The requests are otherwise independent and may be approved, declined or amended individually. A consolidated version of the proposed article is at User:StudioSTEM/Shazia Sadiq.

Request 1 — Lead section, second sentence

1. Please remove the second sentence of the lead paragraph:

"She is a Professor of Computer Science at the University of Queensland."

2. Please add the following in its place, as the second and third sentences of the lead paragraph:

"She is Professor of Computer Science at the University of Queensland, where her research addresses data quality management, process science and trustworthy AI. She is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering, which described her as "an influential data engineer, internationally recognized as a research leader and passionate advocate of responsible data management"."

The lead gives no indication of the subject's research field or of the recognition she has received, contrary to MOS:LEAD. The fellowship is already cited in the body of the article.

Request 2 — Rename the "Background" section

Not applicable — heading change only. No article text is affected.

4. Reason for change being made:

The section covers the subject's education, her university appointment and her research leadership roles. "Background" does not describe that content, and is not among the section headings recommended for biographies at MOS:BIO, where "Education" and "Career" or a combined "Education and career" are the conventional choices. The change is to the heading only; the paragraphs beneath it are dealt with individually at Requests 3 to 9 and should not be removed as part of this request.

Request 3 — Education and career, first paragraph

1. Please remove the whole of the first paragraph of the "Education and career" section (currently "Background"), which reads:

"Originally from Pakistan, Sadiq was one of a handful of women to undertake studies in a computer science program within Pakistan at Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, Pakistan in 1980s, and wrote her first computer program in Fortran using punched cards."

2. Please add the following in its place, as the first paragraph of that section:

"Sadiq was born in Pakistan, where she was one of a handful of women to undertake studies in a computer science program in the 1980s at Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad."

The existing paragraph carries a "citation needed" tag. The replacement retains the same claim about her studies, now supported by an independent published source, and drops the Fortran and punched-cards detail, for which no published source has been located.

Request 4 — Education and career, second paragraph

1. Please remove the whole of the second paragraph of the "Education and career" section, which reads:

"She later received a NORAD scholarship to undertake a masters in computer science from the Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, Thailand. She then went on to do a PhD in Information Systems at the University of Queensland, Brisbane Australia, with Professor Maria Orlowska."

2. Please add the following in its place, as the second paragraph of that section:

"She completed a masters in computer science at the Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, Thailand, then went on to a PhD in information systems at The University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia, supervised by Maria Orlowska."

"Since 2001, Sadiq has been based in the School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering, at the University of Queensland. She conducts research and teaching in databases and information systems."

2. Please add the following in its place, as the third paragraph of that section:

"Sadiq is based in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at The University of Queensland. Her early research focused on business process management and methods for embedding regulatory compliance into business process design. A 2007 paper on business process compliance received the Business Process Management conference series' Test of Time Award in 2017, given to work judged to have had lasting influence a decade after publication."

The school named in the existing text no longer exists under that name; it is now the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, as shown on the school's own staff listing. The two references currently supporting this paragraph (itee.uq.edu.au/dke/shazia) are both dead links. The addition also describes the subject's early research field, which the article does not currently cover.

Request 6 — Education and career, fourth paragraph

1. Please remove the whole of the fourth paragraph of the "Education and career" section, which reads:

"She serves as deputy chair on the Australian Academy of Science's National Committee on Information and Communication Sciences and formerly as vice president of the Asia Pacific Chapter of IQ International – the International Association of Information and Data Quality."

2. Please add the following in its place, as the fourth paragraph of that section:

The existing paragraph is written in the present tense but describes a position the subject no longer holds, and is supported by two dead links (iqint.org and itee.uq.edu.au/dke/shazia). Her committee roles are covered, in the past tense, at Request 8. On the publication count: the publications listing on the cited page in the "Works" tab currently comprises 196 conference publications, 93 journal articles, 3 books and 15 book chapters. The "Background" text in the "Overview" tab referencing 200 publications is out of date.

Request 7 — Education and career, new fifth paragraph

A 2026 Courier-Mail feature on Queensland's most influential scientists and technology entrepreneurs described Sadiq as "defining the rules of engagement" for the governance of enterprise data and AI."

The article currently rests almost entirely on university and academy sources, which is the concern raised by the maintenance banner at the top of the page. These two additions are independent secondary coverage of the subject's work by publications with no connection to her or to her employer, and go directly to notability under WP:GNG. The Courier-Mail is a major metropolitan daily. It sits behind a paywall, which does not affect its use as a source per WP:PAYWALL; I can supply the relevant text on request. Both are cited for what the publications said about her work, with in-text attribution.

Request 8 — Education and career, new sixth paragraph

1. Please remove:

2. Please add the following as a new sixth paragraph of the "Education and career" section, immediately after the paragraph beginning "Her work was profiled by The Brilliant" (added at Request 7):

"Sadiq has held a series of research leadership and governance roles. She served on the Australian Research Council's College of Experts from 2018 to 2021, chaired the National Committee on Information and Communication Sciences at the Australian Academy of Science, and from 2021 has been Director of the ARC Industry Transformation Training Centre on Information Resilience. Sadiq has also contributed to national initiatives on emerging technologies. She was a lead author of a 2023 report on the risks and opportunities of generative AI commissioned by Australia's National Science and Technology Council, chairs the Digital Futures Forum of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering, and in 2024 joined the Kingston AI Group, an expert group working on the acceleration of Australian AI research and education."
