[edit]I recently added a request for clarification, which was reverted because the source clarifies. That's not the purpose of an encyclopedia. Per MOS:JARGON, Wikipedia's articles should be readable by a broad audience, not just experts, and saying a reader should just read the source is basically turning the cite into an external link, which is inappropriate inline.
