Why does this article use the phrase "as of 2008" when 2008 was over a decade and a half ago?

IMO the phrase "as of 2008" implies that 2008 is relatively recent. I'd suggest "in 2008 it was considered" or similar, but I'm not sure how to do that without ruining the flow of the sentence. 2A00:23C5:5798:4101:70B2:3B1C:DE27:5120 (talk) 15:15, 22 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
