Inaccurate page name

[edit]

While the name of the page is Samuel Benezra, it appears the conventional English naming of this person is Shmuel Ben Ezra.

For example, see multiple reports about his appointment: MSN news flash, The Jerusalem Post article, the Times of Israel article, Ynet article, and every other serious report of his appointment. None spell it like the current page name.

I believe it should be changed to reflect the accepted, common spelling. ~~~~ LifeLearning (talk) 16:35, 9 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

I agree. His M.A. Thesis is titled "'Strategic deterrence' in cyberspace : changing perception or local adaptations? / Shmuel Ben Ezra" (National Library of Israel record) and the official PMO announcement is titled "PM Netanyahu Appoints Shmuel Ben Ezra as Director of the National Security Council (NSC) and National Security Advisor to the PM" (PMO Media statement). Saying this, his father the physicist writes his name David Benezra so a redirect from that spelling is legit. DGtal (talk) 11:30, 10 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Edit request: open a formal requested-move discussion

[edit]

Requested change: Please convert the existing “Inaccurate page name” section into a formal requested-move discussion proposing:

Samuel BenezraShmuel Ben Ezra

The existing section cites the English-language Prime Minister’s Office announcement, the National Library of Israel record for the subject’s M.A. thesis, and reliable independent English-language news coverage. It already contains support from two editors and no opposition.

I created the original draft under “Shmuel Ben Ezra”, but when moving it into article space I mistakenly selected the less common title “Samuel Benezra”. I mention this only to explain how the current title arose; the requested move should be decided under WP:COMMONNAME and WP:NCP on the basis of the reliable sources.

I am not extended-confirmed, so I am submitting this constructive edit request rather than opening or participating in the requested-move discussion myself. Thank you. Dvoraure (talk) 11:40, 28 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for bringing this to me attention. I apologize for that the previous request was drafted using AI. I was unaware of the specific English Wikipedia rule regarding talk page comments generated by LLMs. I used the AI because it difficult to Phrase my thoughts in Fluent English, as it is not my primary language. The request itself & arguments were my , but I understand that I should have phrased the message in my words.
Since the response to my request didnt address the actual Merits of the proposed article title change, I would like to resubmit the Edit Request (this time in my words :).
I am asking an editor with "extended-confirmed" status to open a formal "Requested Move" discussion to move the article from "Samuel Benezra" to "Shmuel Ben Ezra" . The arguments & sources are detailed in the "Inaccurate page name" section above ,such as the Prime Minister's Office announncement, the National Library record, and reliable English news sources.
I do not hold "extended-confirmed" status, which is why I am submitting this as an edit request. please Dvoraure (talk) 21:14, 5 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
Not done: Edit requests are requests for specific changes to be made to the article. They can't be used to circumvent WP:ECR and open a discussion on your behalf. Day Creature (talk) 02:18, 6 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
