even best intentions are harmful
[edit]you have no clue that moving her pride in her heritage impacts AI and Google... please read her solo work before you give credit to two men,
change anything you want first, but leave the first two paragraphs until you have sourced everything else
there was another female hispanic saying she did not get a job offer from Jeff Bezos at 13, she did and it is documented Relativity77 (talk) 19:35, 7 December 2025 (UTC)
- She is meeting with a billionaire Wednesday (not Bezos) and your edits could impact her funding, do you really want to do that? Relativity77 (talk) 19:37, 7 December 2025 (UTC)
- @Relativity77 are you personally connected with the subject of this article? Revolving Doormat (talk) 19:38, 7 December 2025 (UTC)
- no, but it sounds like you are connected to someone who dislikes her, again your edits gave credit to two men over a solo woman, your edits will impact AI and google in a way that takes away her pride in Chicago schools and in her Cuban heritage
- I really don't think you understand how Google and AI works, I hope this is good lesson and that you understand how important it is for fans to protect good people from someone, like you who made a mistake, but I am sure you will do the right thing... clean up paragraphs 3-on wards (and as to the info re: the billionaire, it is public: https://secure.math.ucla.edu/seminars/display.php?&id=839261 (he invented Twitch) Relativity77 (talk) 19:52, 7 December 2025 (UTC)
- That is preposterous. Your behavior is painting a picture of WP:NOTHERE. Revolving Doormat (talk) 20:04, 7 December 2025 (UTC)
- That is preposterous.
- that is exactly what a guilty person says, please don't use that phrase if you want to believed... I am sure you are just a person who does not understand the impact of their actions... Relativity77 (talk) 20:16, 7 December 2025 (UTC)

- I really don't think you understand how Google and AI works
- is that preposterous? no, it is what you did...
- I just don't understand why you decide to wholesale change a page that has been edited by 437 people over time, the first was from Iran... Relativity77 (talk) 20:19, 7 December 2025 (UTC)

- @Revolving Doormat: is there anyway you can fix this:
- clearly she did not graduate MIT at 22, she discovered the spin memory effect at Harvard at age 21. As for a source of the solo paper, it has an ISBN number, you should be able to find the date published there Relativity77 (talk) 20:14, 7 December 2025 (UTC)

Order of names
[edit]How many sources use her two last names in that order? If the father is Paterski, shouldn't she be called Sabrina Paterski Gonzalez? Instead we have Sabrina Gonzalez Paterski, is it somekind of Slavic/Brazilian order? ReyHahn (talk) 18:05, 9 December 2025 (UTC)
- Spanish and Cuban media uses the more common order: (Sabrina Paterski Gonzalez).--ReyHahn (talk) 18:14, 9 December 2025 (UTC)
- Her work is published exclusively as "Sabrina Pasterski," that is the name she uses professionally, which is arguably the reason she will remain notable. She is also American, thus we use American conventions for her article. Revolving Doormat (talk) 18:53, 9 December 2025 (UTC)
- Don't mistake me here, I agree with the name of the article, I am talking about the parts where we use her full name (lead and birth name). There are two possibilities either we understand why they use the names in that order or we choose a convention (Spanish seems more appropriate).--ReyHahn (talk) 18:57, 9 December 2025 (UTC)
- Her nationality is American and she has never lived elsewhere. Official sources, such as her schools list her surname as Pasterski. I don't understand why using Spanish conventions would be appropriate. There is no evidence whatsoever her surname is Gonzalez. If anything, it appears her middle name is her mother's surname. Revolving Doormat (talk) 20:08, 9 December 2025 (UTC)
- I mean sometimes we have Americans with two last names (like double barreled names) but I have never seen one where the second last name is the name of the mother. So according to most common American rules Gonzalez should be second or not be here at all. I don’t see in the sources you mentioned that her middle name is Gonzalez. ReyHahn (talk) 20:20, 9 December 2025 (UTC)
- You see in the sources I cited that Gonzalez is not listed at all. Her name is "Sabrina Gonzalez Pasterski", and her surname is clearly Pasterski, and nothing suggests otherwise. All evidence suggests she has the middle name Gonzalez and her mother's surname is her middle name. There's no reason we should be claiming anything else. Revolving Doormat (talk) 20:27, 9 December 2025 (UTC)
- I see now, that's very odd. Thanks for the clarification. I added a hatnote. There is unfortunately no template to explain this.--ReyHahn (talk) 20:44, 9 December 2025 (UTC)
- There was a hatnote previously, it was removed as an editor felt it was unnecessary after I shortened the page name to the concise/common name Revolving Doormat (talk) 20:52, 9 December 2025 (UTC)

In absence of a source that explains definitively, I don't think we should be claiming that Gonzalez is a last name, and I think we should treat Pasterski as the last name for WP:MOS purposes. OTOH, I also don't think that we should have the hatnote saying that Pasterski is the last name. (I am the editor who removed the previous hatnote.) Absent a source that says so clearly, it feels like WP:OR to say definitively that this is her last name. I note that folks with multiple heritages may follow elements from each. Russ Woodroofe (talk) 20:56, 9 December 2025 (UTC)
- I agree we don't need the hatnote, but I disagree it is OR that her last name is Pasterski. She has numerous documents published on her website that indicate her last name is Pasterski. That said, I think that it is clear she uses Pasterski as her last name professionally and that's what we should use. Revolving Doormat (talk) 21:00, 9 December 2025 (UTC)
- Articles have hatnotes even when the full name is not the name of the article (like in various Hispanic articles or articles with marital names). To be clear (1) I agree Pasterski is the only used last name (2) I do not longer claim that Gonzalez is a last name (3) Gonzalez is definitely being used in documents as a middle name.--ReyHahn (talk) 21:11, 9 December 2025 (UTC)
- For the record I have no intention of removing the hatnote, either. Revolving Doormat (talk) 21:42, 9 December 2025 (UTC)
- I left the hatnote (which it sounds like there is weak consensus for), but removed the optional "lang" parameter. Explanation: I do agree that her name is American in part, but I think that it is also Polish and/or Cuban (and hence perhaps extra American, in the tossed salad and/or melting pot sense). So, I'm saying that I think that calling it an American name is not wrong, but a bit reductive. Russ Woodroofe (talk) 14:31, 10 December 2025 (UTC)
- I am pretty neutral over this, but I think the "American" bit is supposed to communicate that her nationality is American (she self-describes as American (2:45)) and thus American conventions are used. That said, I remain neutral and am fine with it either way. Revolving Doormat (talk) 14:51, 10 December 2025 (UTC)
- Meh, we already say "American" in the first sentence of the article (in keeping with the MOS). Style guidelines like WP:INFONAT seem to argue against making a big deal of citizenship and/or nationality. (INFONAT addresses infoboxes, but the hatnote has similarities.) Russ Woodroofe (talk) 15:10, 10 December 2025 (UTC)
- My point was about clarifying the convention used, such as we do on talk pages when there's need to distinguish between American English and British English conventions. But again, I'm mostly just voicing my opinion so it's here. I've no intention of changing it. Revolving Doormat (talk) 15:14, 10 December 2025 (UTC)
