Translation of SOKS

I was curious about the meaning of the individual words in the Russian name of this system, so I passed them to Google Translate one at a time. следа (sleda) translates as trace, rather than as object, which makes more sense to me (i.e. the system detects the traces remaining of the wake of a submarine).
