Change article title to Ruolin (given name)?

I feel like this is a good idea because I looked at the English feminine given names and a lot of them have (given name) after the name itself for ease of disambiguation. I can do it myself if nobody objects? Calisyrre (talk) 22:04, 13 June 2026 (UTC)

@Calisyrre and Jax 0677: I am not an expert, but I prefer

• Ruolin (Chinese: 若琳) is a female Chinese given name. to
• Ruolin is the English romanization of a female Chinese given name (Chinese: 若琳).

The first version makes the Chinese name the subject and makes links to pages in other languages possible. Also other given name articles I checked seem to be similar to the first version. TSventon (talk) 22:44, 13 June 2026 (UTC)

It's complicated, since various different Chinese names can be romanized as Ruolin and the characters might not be the same. For example, 若霖 is also Ruolin, but with different characters. There are two untranslated Chinese Wikipedia articles for people with 若霖 as a given name: zh:陳若霖 and zh:汪若霖. Both of these people are guys, but then, the Li Ruolin 李若琳 who's currently listed on the main Ruolin article is also a guy, so I don't know how much luck you'd have distinguishing between Ruolin and Ruolin if you hypothetically made one page for each name.

I looked through the Chinese feminine given names category and some of the Chinese name articles like Guiying are only for one specific Chinese name, while others like Ailing (Chinese name) or Xiaoling explicitly are for the English romanization since they map to multiple Chinese (or non-Chinese) names. Then there's articles like Joon (Chinese name), not to be confused with Joon (Korean name). Really it's kind of a mess, but to me it looks like there's also a fair number of articles for Chinese feminine given names that are just for the English romanization that can correspond to multiple sets of Chinese characters and not a specific Chinese name? I realize that I could definitely add 若霖 and the two Chinese Wikipedia articles for people with 若霖 as a name to the main page, to make it more clear that this page is for Ruolin as a romanization and not just 若琳. But I don't know what to do here really. Calisyrre (talk) 23:14, 13 June 2026 (UTC)
