Hello. I am the subject of this article
[edit]Hello. I am the subject of this article and am making improvements per Wikipedia's COI guidelines. I'm being transparent about my involvement. The current lead paragraph has been flagged as inadequate and doesn't properly establish notability. I've revised it to include:
Academic position and career progression (Goldsmiths, University of London 2013-2024) Peer-reviewed publication record (journals including Digital Scholarship in the Humanities, Rethinking History, Critical Survey) Three-time winner of Calvin & Rose G. Hoffman Prize Patron of The Marlowe Society (2024) Poetry on UK A-level syllabus
All claims are supported by reliable third-party sources. I will be making additional section-by-section improvements over the coming days to add missing academic publications and remove poorly sourced personal details. I welcome review and discussion from other editors. My goal is to bring this article up to Wikipedia standards with proper sourcing and encyclopedic tone. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Emermaid (talk • contribs) 12:16, 5 December 2025 (UTC)
- I reverted you, since your new WP:LEAD-version seriously failed that guideline, having details not in the article body at all, and other stuff just repeating article content, not summarizing, and including some stuff I think is WP:PUFFERY like "distinguished work", which wasn't supported by the ref given.
- However, this is not uncommon when article-subjects write about themselves on WP, that's why we have policies like WP:COIADVICE. The lead is the wrong place to start, and no, you really shouldn't re-write the article yourself, you can make specific suggestions on this talkpage and let other editors consider them. It's slow and impractical, but not being written by you is sort of the point of the WP-article about you.
- The goal of this WP-article is to summarize WP:RS independent of you. WP is, in general, not interested in everything you've done , that's what your personal websites are for, we're basically interested in what the BBC and NYT noticed that you did. WP:ABOUTSELF has some use, but very limited. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 13:17, 5 December 2025 (UTC)
- That said, welcome to the wonderful (:/) world of Wikipedia! If you'd like this article to have a picture of you (I'd like that), there is guidance on that at WP:A picture of you. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 13:29, 5 December 2025 (UTC)
