Car Gwyllt

[edit]

Adding this here for future reference, the Car_gwyllt was invented by the Welsh in 1870, which used by quarrymen to go down the mountain for either ease or fun, worth adding this to the article as it is closely related to rollercoasters. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hogyncymru (talk • contribs) 00:01, 11 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

In the Scenic railways section, change "a 8.7-mile" to "an 8.7-mile" in order to use the proper English article preceding a word beginning in a vowel. Z3a1 (talk) 19:54, 28 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Done: I actually removed the length altogether, since it wasn't cited with a source here or in the Mauch Chunk Switchback Railway article. --GoneIn60 (talk) 22:53, 28 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Just wanted to pop in as a heads up for anyone still active on this page. I'm planning to rework this article, so if anyone has any suggestions, please drop in and add them. Coilebethany (talk) 15:46, 21 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

World's Oldest Roller Coaster

[edit]

I have heard numerous times that the World's oldest roller coaster is Leap the Dips at Lakemont Park in Altoona, Pennsylvania. I have heard rumors about the park or the ride closing, but I haven't seen any conformation. Is the information I found outdated, or was this simply an oversight while creating the article? I would appreciate a quick response. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zyxzer (talk • contribs) 22:23, 27 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

Neither of the coasters at Lakemont Park operated during the 2024 season, but were still standing. News sources say this is because the park was financially unsustainable. The park remained open. Plighting Engineerd (talk) 03:30, 29 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

Not all roller coasters have steep slopes and tight turns

[edit]

It seems like this is what the dictionary says, but not all roller coasters have that. There are loads of kiddie and family coasters with very mild turns and drops, but they are still 100% roller coasters. MakeWikipediaNeutralAgain (talk) 12:08, 24 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
