As there is no page at Robert Searle except a redirect to this page, I propose moving this page to that main page. In the future if future Robert Searle entries are required that page could be moved back and a disambiguation page created. shas _T|C 10:18, 2 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Mistake in Pirates of the Eastern Seas (Charles Grey)

Charles Grey's Pirates of the Eastern Seas seemingly misidentifies Edward Davis (who sailed on Bachelor's Delight) as John Davis (i.e. as Searle), so be cautious if using this source. —AlphaMikeOmega (talk) 00:16, 23 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

"Soon after Sir Henry Morgan’s raid on Maracaibo (Venezuela), Searle and his ship were lying at New Providence in the Bahamas when a vengeful Spanish force attacked the English settlement there. This spurred several angry privateersmen, among them Searle, to sail for Florida and sack the presidio of St. Augustine, Florida in May 1668" Sir Henry Morgan didn't raid Maracaibo until 1669, so how could Robert Searle raid St Augustine in 1668 out of revenge against the Spanish because they raided New Providence out of revenge for Sir Henry Morgan's raid on Maracaibo?
