$5b investment by VW
[edit]It was recently announced that VW it will be investing $5 billion in Rivian as a way for VW to get more software expertise and for Rivian to get more manufacturing expertise. It seems notable enough for the article. I'm just wondering where the best place for it is: History (it is there now), Collaborations (one sentence there), or even Finances? Any thoughts? about
[edit]@All in About template i added - is pretty standard and should be kept. It is different from Not to be confused with template. About is a commonly used hatnote template on Wikipedia for linking the reader to other articles with similar titles or concepts that they may have been seeking instead. Rivian and the new JV are closely related - yet separate entities. Many of the software development of Rivian vehicles will now be done by new JV. New JV is formed from employees of Rivian. They share same office building, tech etc.. Cinaroot (talk) 00:22, 13 May 2025 (UTC)
- The template documentation itself says "This template should be used on articles only if other topics and articles exist with very similar names. For most articles, this is not true, so do not use this template on them."
- In any case, if you are going to tag me you should also tag the editor that removed it the first time, which is @Adriazeri . They gave their justification for removing it, which is similar to mine.
- Also if you know this information regarding sharing the same office, tech, etc; if this company is your employer you should familiarize yourself with relevant Wikipedia policy regarding COI editing. (u t c m l ) 🔒 ALL IN 🧿 03:58, 13 May 2025 (UTC)
- template is not just used is names are similar. It says about is also used for "concepts that they may have been seeking instead." Like i said before - Rivian and Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technology are closely related. Rivian owns 50%. Their co-CEO's is from Rivian. Cinaroot (talk) 04:41, 13 May 2025 (UTC)
- You are confusing Template:Distinguish with Template:About Cinaroot (talk) 04:49, 13 May 2025 (UTC)
- In that case you have to justify that RV Tech is a "concept that [the reader] may have been seeking instead" when they search for "Rivian" . At this point you are the only editor who believes that, while others such as me, do not believe that (I believe, if a reader were actually seeking RV Tech then they could have searched for that name)
- Tagging @Adriazeri since they also removed it.

- please research about the RV Tech - a good start would be https://www.volkswagen-group.com/en/press-releases/faster-leaner-more-efficient-rivian-and-volkswagen-group-announce-the-launch-of-their-joint-venture-18828

- I already made a good case about its employees, office location, tech stacks, products being used in Rivian vehicles. Cinaroot (talk) 18:30, 13 May 2025 (UTC)
- tagging more editors for comment @Bdebbarma @Explicit @Ptrnext @Rutsq
- question is if its okay to add this template https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Rivian&diff=prev&oldid=1289517318 Cinaroot (talk) 18:35, 13 May 2025 (UTC)

- Considering how much overlap there is between names, employees, and technology, I too sometimes get a bit confused between Rivian and the Rivian+VW partnership. I think the
{{about}}is appropriate. However, it could equally well be done with the{{distinguish}}template. Stepho talk 04:28, 14 May 2025 (UTC) - @All in i picked most recent experienced editors on this wiki randomly. how is this canvassing? Cinaroot (talk) 04:33, 14 May 2025 (UTC)

You can see the reason for deletion at the file description page linked above. —Community Tech bot (talk) 18:37, 3 September 2025 (UTC)
- The reason given is "Non-free logo". Yet WP:Logos#Uploading non-free logos makes it clear that these low resolution and, in this case, incidental Amazon and Amazon Prime logos are fair-use. A quick look at User:Deanrah's history shows this editor is nominating a lot of items that seem fair-use. RastaKins (talk) 20:09, 3 September 2025 (UTC)
