Ripken Stadium

[edit]

Sorry, I havent done wikipedia revisions before so I'm gonna just use the talk page for this instead of making more revisions. On the Ironbirds website and at the stadium itself all Leidos branding has been removed from Ripken Stadium, along with the Maryland Stadium Authority calling it Ripken Stadium, I believe that the wikipedia page should reflect this 2600:4040:B222:B200:A0A6:B7C1:AFEF:5E2A (talk) 03:32, 21 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia pages reflect what reliable sources say. I have not yet found any reliable sources reporting this change. I think it's just a matter of time before that changes and then the page can reflect it. -- Pemilligan (talk) 22:34, 21 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
Not sure if this counts as a reliable or valid source, but I have worked there since 2021. The Leidos branding was quitely removed between the 2024 and 2025 seasons. The box score from the first game of 2025 reflects this, as well as the team website. JoeCamera (talk) 21:05, 8 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
Those don't work as reliable sources because they don't say that there's been a change, and citing the difference between sources using "Leidos Field" and sources not using "Leidos Field" would violate our policy against original research or, more specifically, synthesis. But there is good news: As I said above, it was just a matter of time before something was published, and that happened last month:
Lyons, Taylor (March 23, 2026). "Aberdeen IronBirds seeking naming rights sponsor for Ripken Stadium". The Baltimore Sun. ProQuest 3320746825. Retrieved April 9, 2026.
Or if you don't have a subscription:
Lyons, Taylor (March 23, 2026). "Aberdeen IronBirds seeking naming rights sponsor for Ripken Stadium". The Baltimore Sun. Retrieved April 9, 2026 via MSN.
I'm updating the article with naming rights details. -- Pemilligan (talk) 04:03, 9 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
All that hard work just for it to be renamed less than two months later haha "Aberdeen IronBirds and IBEW Local 24 Announce Naming Rights Partnership Field to be Named IBEW 24 Union Field at Ripken Stadium" JoeCamera (talk) 15:37, 2 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Yes, the burden of it is just killing me. 🤪 -- Pemilligan (talk) 13:18, 10 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

IBEW Stadium

[edit]

I've updated the Infobox and lead to show the new, full name without renaming the article. I think this is acceptable. I believe I've seen other articles that have handled new naming rights this way. Feel free to discuss, or not. -- Pemilligan (talk) 13:22, 10 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
