Grammy Award eligibility and WP:NOTNEWS

An unregistered editor is insisting that the following paragraph be added in a new "Notable events" section of this article:

In September 2020, The Recording Academy placed the Rhode Island College Concert Chorus on the Official Ballot for the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards for their virtual performance of "When I Think of You." The chorus earned their Grammy Award Considerations in two categories: Best Pop Duo or Group Performance and Best Music Video. This was the first Grammy Award Consideration for a music performance group at Rhode Island College in the school's history. On October 3, 2020, Rhode Island College President Dr. Frank Sánchez hosted an event at Sapinsley Hall for music producers Al Gomes (class of 1986) and Connie Watrous, along with Chorus Conductor and Professor of Music Teresa Coffman, to announce the Grammy Awards news live to the entire Rhode Island College community including administration, staff, students, and alumni.

I contend that this is not noteworthy enough to include in this encyclopedia article that focuses on the history, organization, funding, accomplishments, and challenges of this institution that is nearly 170 years old. It's recent news, not encyclopedic information that readers must know about. At best, it would merit a line in the existing "History" section, not a new dedicated section and detailed paragraph. I agree that this content is not encyclopedic, and I would add that the wording is also misleading.

“Grammy Award consideration” refers to a submission or “For Your Consideration” campaign and is not equivalent to a nomination, ballot placement, or official recognition by the Recording Academy. Presenting this as being placed on the “Official Ballot” and as a historical achievement gives undue weight to what is essentially promotional material.

The cited sources are institutional press releases and YouTube segments, which are not independent, reliable sources for claims about Grammy Awards status. Per WP:NPOV and WP:UNDUE, this paragraph should be removed rather than relocated.
