Impartiality and writing standards

[edit]

I'm new to Wikipedia so I don't know if this is the case, but this article seems to lack impartiality and overly quote the author's opinions. I think that it should be revamped in a less lengthy way, with less quotes. Brum802 (talk) 19:37, 10 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Nah, it's fine. Since it's about its subject, it's of course going to discuss her opinions. But there are virtually no quotes in the article--only terms are quoted. 2600:8802:5913:1700:3836:19C8:C569:A050 (talk) 12:26, 24 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Dispute around Bitecofer Tweet/X post about Palestinians

[edit]

Hello,

There's been a few edits and undos concerning Bitecofer's Tweet about Palestinians, which seems to have went decently viral on X (324,000 views at the moment) 1. An IP editor, @~2026-39131-90, added a quote based on the tweet to the article, which I removed. I believe that including the post as a direct link is a violation of points 1, 2, and 3 of WP:BLPSELFPUB. The claim is exceptional in nature, is about third parties outside of Bitecofer, and is concerning events not directly related to her (the claim in the tweet is not something literally happening to her). Editor @Misha Vargas reverted my undo, citing WP:SELFSOURCEOK. I undo-d again, citing the previous WP:BLPSELFPUB, and then they undo-d again, [2], stating that the information is factual that she made this claim.

I am not disputing that she said that. There is a reason that the first three bullets of WP:BLPSELFPUB exist, and this claim has not received coverage in any secondary, independent, WP:RS per my searching. I do not see an exceptional reason why this material should exist on the page when it violates more than half of the criteria for using self-published sources in BLPs.

I welcome the feedback of other editors, and wish to gain consensus to avoid an edit war. I also want to acknowledge that this subject matter (but not the entire article) is part of the Arab-Israeli conflict contentious topic. Yojo98 (talk) 00:35, 14 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

The question is WP:PROPORTION. That she posted it is not reason enough to include it, decent secondary coverage is needed. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 04:33, 14 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
I agree that this should have coverage in reliable secondary sources to include Tristario (talk) 09:50, 15 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
I came here from Wikipedia:Biographies_of_living_persons/Noticeboard#Rachel_Bitecofer, btw. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 04:36, 14 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Ditto. It shouldn't be included as it hasn't been picked up by reliable sources. We can't write bios using every tweet that goes viral. Fences&Windows 15:37, 23 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
